Kozelsk

A few of us found out that on this map, it is all about denying the tanks access north of the river. We always spawn in and grab a combat engineer kit as militia in order to blow the bridge (believe it is in E5). This makes the only vehicles the Russians can bring north be the btr 60s, and then only by swimming them through the bay. They can also use the boats, but most folks do not even know the russians get boats on a delayed timer at their main.

There is also a point in the bay with a small group of houses north of the russian main that can be used to spot anything leaving their main and also anything floating in the bay.

Anywho, I love this map and it has many things the militia can do to halt the Russian advance.

Isn't there a way to fix the bridge?

Russians have to be fast and secure at least one bridge as their first mission. I think it is cool this way. Tanks can't operate very effective in mountain areas of chechnya anyway.

Indeed. There should be a way for the Chechens to halt the Russian armour. If the Ruskies don't defend the bridges it's their problem if they loose them!

Yea without any ticket bleed the Russians can just sit back near their
main.CnC mode is pretty interesting for this map, could take a long time thou.

Repair crates?
You mean, repair stations?

Anyways I tried to go through other paths to the north (with a tank)... it's virtually impossible...

What? you can't use a wrench anymore?

oh well, it's a good map and all. I just think it needs a bit of ambient noise, like some birds or something and when you are down by the swamp. It's too quiet when no one is engaging

1. Flanking maneuver (10-20 meter spacing between squad members)
2. Avoid sprinting unless it's to avoid enemy fire or get into cover. Sprinting will get you seen on a forest map, no doubt about it.
3. Stay off the roads. You're on a forest map and you decide to go into the open? Are you stupid?
4. Attack from behind. Let's face it the enemy most of the time will be looking at the general direction of the flag. We have huge radius. You can sneak up on entire squads by going into an unorthodox direction (personally I like to take my squads where no one else is going).
5. And most importantly: KEEP EVERYONE ON THE FLAG RADIUS. I couldn't stress that more than enough. Who gives a rubber duck if there's a scary T-90 on the flag, the T-90 can't climb mountains or search for infantry in the woods. Stay put and don't do anything stupid like throwing smoke or shooting your Ak-47 in the air. As long as your team has 3/4 of your players on the radius (and they're huge), Russia will not be capping flags.

6. In that scenario, Russia will sometimes switch to a ''deathmatch'' strategy as they have no bleed. That means Chechnya should be extremely careful with their BTR's and supply trucks, as this will cost them the game.

As Russians me and my squad of 3-4 guys always take an APC, head up to the area around Launch Facility via the lake, and set up ambush points with the hull-downed APC, H-AT and mines. We usually make sure no vehicle support gets out of the enemy main after 10 minutes of gameplay. Seeing as the rest of the terrain in the area is impossible to navigate through safely unless you are infantry or at a push, a technical, they have to drive their Log' Trucks, APCs and Spandrels along the road, where we knock 'em down, one after another. We've won the game for the russian team many times, and our battle cry of "You just got Sneaky Russian'd echos through the forest. Fear the 16th Sneaky Russian squad.

I learnt that you can get a large number of kills without even firing a single bullet  Grab a technical on Chechan Rebels and go out hunting. Is the most fun and you can make fast attacks...

I am pretty sure the tanks can run up the East border of the map and attack Chechen training camp.
I love that bridge somebody was talking about, get and Eng, start yer own squad and you can dig in at the bridge alone while everyone else is way way down south hunting 1 or 2 Russians and getting flanked.
I really like digging in up near the Launch pad and getting nice long lines of sights down roads with the emplaced 50s.
Question, on a map like this, with the Spandrels, do you think 1 manning the APC in a parked, hull down position is a bad thing ? I make the driver get out so the engine noise doesn't give away my position but that driver could also change to LAT/HAT w/e and patrol.
I think light armor is used to aggressively most times and the times that call for swift, decisive action, the armor is hunkered down, waiting to be flanked.

I just really like the map because when you get cut off and have to make a long walk to get back to safety/your squad, the woods are really scary.

False!

After reading your post, I played wise guy on a server yesterday - "We need to blow up the bridges so the tanks cant get across".

The eastern bridge at least allows even the heavy tank to simply drive through the river and come up on the north shore - where our squad was placed in ambush without any AT - I felt I let down the whole squad !

:)

I have managed to bring over APC´s Supply trucks and pretty much every Russian veichle over a destroyed bridge by jumping. If you manage to hit straight its pretty easy.
However i havent tried with a T-90....

Just build a FOB nearby, place a foxhole into the damaged part of the bridge and you will have a nice improvised bridge, that even tanks can get across. ;)

Taken from a Devs hint somewhere in this forum some time ago, dont know who it was though.

Granted, but better than nothing. And if it got destroyed, you can build up a new one very quickly. You need the FOB around though.
