[AAR] PR Tales from the Front Share your in-game experiences playing PR

Today I downloaded and installed PR.

I read the manual and thought it would be good to try one of the training games to get a feel for what it was like to play and and generally get to grips with the game.

I managed to spawn and get shot about 30 or more times before giving up on it. All I can say is well done to all of those sad losers who think that by spawn killing the new guys they will increase their credibility rating and their game play.

I will probably let myself loose on a couple of games now and play like a complete twat, hopefully the players who's games I ruin will understand that because I wasn't able to get any form of understanding as to how the game works from the training games, I had little choice but to have a go on a proper game server.

"But" In my defence I'll use the same excuse one of the spawn campers used in defence of his actions. "how much did you pay it? $0 exactly, so shut up moanin"

I hope the entire community of PR players aren't spoilt, arrogant, ignorant, uncouth brats who think that because some people kindly created something and allowed other people to use it for free that fair play and common decency aren't important. If these sort of childish idiots are allowed to wreck other players enjoyment of what I think might be an extremely good mod, it will not realise it's full potential.

Retards and training servers are like lights to moths. Your much better off going on a good server, finding a squad thats working together, let them know your new and stick to the basics. Running the training maps offline is better to just get a feel for the vehicles.

SBKDisco: Sorry you had a bad experience. The training servers are unfortunately a failed experiment.

Instead of being a place to test out what the mod has to offer and help new players discover the game, they are actually just a place that smacktards/greifers/lone wolfs hang out when they are not harrasing other players..

Although this is not always the case, its been my experience prety much any time I have joined a training server.

In the future we will probably be changing the training mode to discourage this type of player behaviour.

Please give the mod a 2nd chance, try joining some of the game servers such as T&T, TG, TTC, =H=, RRF, etc.

Training servers are like Vanilla BF2 with PR's assets, and all the accompanying morons.

A good PR server with a good squad is miles ahead of that... we didn't win both public and judges mod of the year from moddb for nothing.

Its addictive.

Yeah i've been to training servers to pratice flying helos and jets, well i was in one i had retards bombing the airstrips and people bombing there own base and the wrong target areas. but besides that once you get in the air you learn really fast how to avoid AA.

When I started playing the first time, about 6 months ago, I joined a game on Muttrah city. I spawned back at the main base, and since it was pretty far into the game, there was no transport around, so I started to hoof it to the nearest combat zone. I had been walking there for five minutes, then I was sniped. I gave up, respawned, then headed for the battle again. Sniped again. Respawn, take another way, sniped. This continued until I gave up and uninstalled PR. A couple months later I reinstalled it, (I had heard better things about it), joined another game, as a medic just when it started. I joined up with a squad, and immediately got engrossed in the game. All in all, I think the best way to get into the game is to join a populated server and join a squad.

If there was no training servers the regular servers would be allot worse off, I can say I barely ever get to fly in any servers considering the first person to load the map always makes a chopper squad and locks it to invite friends. If any noob was lucky enough to get into a chopper they would probably crash it instantly with the training servers they can actually learn to fly first instead of trying to learn to fly in game, before training servers were around some noob would crash the choppers 6+ times in one game because he didn't know how to fly or to wait for it to warm up.

I can say I enjoy going on the training servers once n a while to mess around in the choppers for the simple fact I can never seem to get into a chopper squad in game, there is always so much drama over the choppers. Maybe if you guys made the choppers and planes less awesome so people won't obsess over them anymore.

Maybe its just about timing, apart apart form the odd idiot out of 40 people, people where actually helping each other and a game was going on, US vs MEC which was pretty awesome. A bit more laid back maybe, but quite enjoyable. There were even tank squads and firebases built.

I agree with you. Lately I've been messing around on the training servers a lot. The people on there are generally very helpful and like to have a bit more fun than in a normal game. I, also, do my bit to help them out if needs be. I usually go on to fly helicopters in formations and do random stunts in jets when I'm a little bit short on time.

Went on populated training servers twice and both times assests were just constantly being destroyed when parked at bases. I only go onto completley empty training servers now, that way i can practice helos.

i like to screw arround while learning, but still, ill make my own squad called jets or somethen to practice with a small ammount of ppl in the server, and ill get in a jet and do stunts while all the time practicing.

ahh, the times i had doing formation flying(it helps you learn the manuvers better) follow the leader(same reson, 6 person fast landing, (teaches you landing and to get out of the runway, cuz if not u got rammed=P) and the pure screwarround 6 aircraft kamikazi onto a willing target on the other team=P



traning servers are mostly full of retards, but join a mostly empty one, i like joining one with only 1 or 2 ppl. and start practicing.

Yeah, training servers can be bad places.
But once we had the oposing forces repairing our runway after they bombed it and agreed to not kill eachother as we were practicing to land on quinling.

Oh yeah, spawn camping is inherent to training servers, unfortunately. I'd rather practice on a local server with bots. If you want revenge, pay them with their own coin, after all, it's just a training server... But seriously, if you want to know what PR is all about, get a microphone, join a proper server, find a decent squad and in about 10 minutes you should be inmersed and enjoying the game, and well, if you like tactical and realistic games, you'll love it.
