APRIL FOOLS - Sangin Valley Open-Beta!

Post by Jaymz »

*PR'S OFFICIAL APRIL FOOLS DAY JOKE!*

Attention Project Reality players!

As many of you know, [R-DEV]Dr Rank has been working on the Map "Sangin" for a over a year now. It has now come to a point where we need to test the map to see how it plays, test the map's layout, weapon cache locations and what changes need to be made to the game modes etc. However due to the sheer size of this map, and its number of statics, vegetation etc, we need to do a server test, with as many people as possible, to prove the gameplay feasibility of it all. It is important at this stage of the map development to get it on the right track so things don't need to be reworked in the later stages. Normally we would use our official testers for this but due to the map's sheer size and unique gameplay we can not do a thorough test without more players on the server.

As such, we are planning One weekend of Open Beta testing for this map. We need as many people as possible to take part over the weekend, Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th.

There will be only one Test Server which will be running throughout the weekend but after that it will go off line. The server is currently online and anyone wanting to familiarise themselves with the map is welcome to do so but the real testing will start this weekend. We request no other servers put this map into their rotation. Having multiple servers online will only disperse the testing which we do not want. Remember this is for our benefit to weed out any gameplay flaws and bugs in the map, to ensure you receive a high quality product at the end.

We would also like to point out that this map is very much WIP (Work in Progress) and that this is no way indicates that the map is almost finished as you will see when you are playing the map. It will still be some time yet until the map is finalized and fully released.

For testing, we would like everyone to concentrate around the ammo caches like a normal Insurgency game by defending and attacking them in the way you think is best as a player, we need to see how things play in there current setup so it is important you play as you normally would.

Any bugs with the map you may find please post them as a new topic with the prefix in your topic name of "[Sangin OB] Bug Name" without the quotes, in our bugs forums here: PR Bugs - Project Reality Forums
Please include as much info as possible with screenshots and videos if needed to show the bug your reporting, the better your info and screenshots are the easier it is for us to locate and fix the bug. Here is an example of a good bug report: [Sangin OB] Example Bug Report / Template

Map Install Instructions:
We have created an exe installer for ease of use, simply run the installer and the map will be extracted to your Battlefield 2/mods/pr/levels/ directory. To uninstall, simply delete the sangin_valley folder. This will NOT affect your PR v0.85, it only installs the map files.

*EDIT - APRIL FOOLS - DO NOT DOWNLOAD UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE A LOOK YOURSELF!*

Server Info:

Server Provided by Tactics & Teamwork

All players on the test server are expected to act in a mature and polite manner, and are asked to cooperate with the testing of gameplay and bug searching. Any players not complying with admin requests will be subject to kick / ban to make room for more cooperative players.

We hope that we can all have a fun and productive special spring day in testing this map to its fullest!
