[AAR] Why you should NEVER take a HAT on insurgency

Okay so its a normal game of insurgency on West Fallujah. US is having a hard time of it and failing generally to get a cache.

I spawn at a hideout in the northwest and head towards US main (coincidentally close to where the 1st cache is) and on my travels I spot a lonewolf US soldier hiding in a building far away from any of his comrades. I sneak up on him and take him out and discover to my delight that he had a HAT kit.

Now anyone should know that as Blufor you should never take a HAT on insurgency its like bringing a sword to your school, its gonne cause trouble. Cue 3 very very dead APCs and one critically damaged in about 10 minutes of gameplay

Moral of the story = never take a HAT out to kill insurgents. It will be taken off you and it will be used to cause your team some pain.

I hate those noobs that take HAT kits on insurgency and just go lone wolf. HAT kits on insurgency should only be used for shooting out of a HEAVILY fortified friendly base. Like shooting out of the Camp Murphy on Korengal.

They just shouldnt take HAT kits at all.Theres nothing that you could use it for. Fortified positions can be cleared using LAT or grenadier.

you are wrong, it can be very effective against caches, moral of story-never lonewolf with special kits, not "dont take it on insurgency"

When a cache is in the open so much that you can shoot it with a hat I'd still wouldnt risk it. Just get an APC, grenadier or AR there to pin 'm while the squad rushes in.

Some maps allow the use of HATs eg the main base in fallujah at times you can get a good view of the area and provide heavy supressing fire, just never take a HAT outside your main base, it is a very evil thing to do.

1st, where you are going to find apc at Archer for example?
2nd, there is no need in direct hit of HAT to cache, just spam village, where u suspect cache, and it will blow up
remember a round where 1 HAT guy who killed 3 or 4 caches in 1 village in such way

There are uses for the HAT kit on some maps (Op Archer, especially). But the problem is that it's taken 80 % of the time by someone lone wolfing on his own. It's useless on smaller/city maps like Basrah, Ramiel, or Karbala usually. But if you're in the fortress in Op Archer, I've had long range firefights with technicals where a HAT would've been useful. Just for goodness sake use it as a long range support, and never get anywhere close to the enemy with it.

I've taken HAT's in insurgency before but to use them to knock out enemy positions at long range and bomb cars. but I mainly only do it on Al Basrah well other maps i stay very close to the main to stop bomb cars.

One time on Archer I took a HAT with a teammate to the cache in the northeast corner, and, firing out of the huey, I took out a hideout and the insurgent building it, then my teammate destroyed the cache. So, yes, HAT can be useful on insurgency when properly used.

on insurgency (this work on other modes too i try it many times and combination work very good)the best effective squad is :
SL
Rifleman Specialist
Medic
APC Driver ( if he\she die make him medic )
APC Gunner( if he\she die make him rifleman)
marksmans ans snipers are not req. for fast moving sq from chache to chache
i hate that noobs who take limitet kits and cant used properly

The main point was that this lonewolfing nubbins ended up costing his team over 40 tickets in destroyed vehicles and dead crewmen/passengers in 10minutes.

There are applications where it can be useful, as any big rocket is going to be useful for something, just never in a dense city map like Fallujah and never as a lone wolf.

Nothing is more fun than taking the US HAT and shooting into Camp Murphy or Outpost with it. Just blowing up vehicles over and over again dropping those tickets.
