[Model] British And US Soldier Model [WIP]

Hey all,
I’m currently working on a British army soldier model and texture. (both completely from scratch) I have based the model upon the Para regiment, and will hopefully, once I have completed this model, move onto creating models for the other classes.
I am also serving with the British army, well TA. When I play PR I always felt I would love to create a realistic looking British faction for the mod. So this is my attempt.
I will post a few WIPs when I feel the time is right, because at the moment all I have is the man without his osprey and pouches etc. And have only done a limited amount of work on the texture. The main reason I posted this thread early was to ask for some help. I have experience with photoshop and 3ds, and have only ever created models for own personal use. So to be honest, I don’t have a clue how I make this model ready for use in game. Anyway what I wanted to ask was, once I have finished the model, along with the texture, can someone finish the model off for me, so it can be used in game?
Regards
ok here are just a few of the different variations that I have so far...
Officer
Rifleman
Rifleman
(planning on making these pouches use the green dpm camo, but very worn to represent the PLCE webbing worn underneath the osprey)
Rifleman
Grenadier
LMG Gunner

Welcome to the forums and good luck with your project. Though, I would PM R-CON Tonnie because he mentioned a long time ago that he might be making the British player models himself once he's done with the Aussies. (I'd hate for both of you to be doing the same project and ending up with one of you having wasted his time)

Keep up the work and welcome to the community.
Hope to see a more realistic UK soldier model. Although the previous ones are respectivley good. PR needs new ones, with the addition of Osprey etc.
Dont forget to roll up the skeves on some of the soldiers. I have to say pictures of the actual soldiers in Afghanisatan look pretty ragged, compared to the ones in PR now.
The Brits in Iraq dont seem to look as ragged though.
Either way i wish you luck.

hey,
Ok what i have done so far has been the kit geom, i had just used the soldier geom from PR. If you are doing the soldier geom thats fine but i have already modeled, uvmapped and mostly textured the kits to go on the soldier... Any way if you want to make the soldier then we may look into putting my kits on you soldier.

Current WIP
The model you can see here has just been mirrored and not put together correctly yet, so alot more work is still to go.
Tri Count: 2604
Vertex Count: 1370
Me and Tonnie have teamed up, I will focus on the base models and Tonnie will be focusing on the kit geoms

oh quick questions guys.
Would you prefer to have another model with the neck collar on? We hardly ever use this apart from on top cover or on stag, but should I make it anyway? Personally I think its uncomfortable but it does look good and does the job.

Lol, the guy on the left doesn't stand a chance, woodland vest and yellow camo?
The guy on the far right looks cool, I like the black and such, but he needs to be more consistent with his weaponry.
Can't go switching weapons all over the place.

yea I cant wait to get issued that kit.... thats if they ever release it. Ive already began work on the texture, mainly taking photos and inspiration from my own desert 95s. I suppose I could always give the new camo a shot, but for the time being I will be sticking to what we use at the moment

Okay, i'm sure it'll be great if the quality of your model is anything to go by. But just think, the DEV's already have the current camo in game. Sure a new model would be nice for pretties but if you introduce the proposed new camo they might be more inclined to add it. (Afterall PR is a few years in the future, as we are always reminded...)
Anyway, smashing job so far and it's your time and effort so completely your call. Good work and good luck mate.

well do you guys recon I should. I dont mind creating both the current and future textures, as Im really enjoying working on the project so far. The base shape of the 'new' soldier (forgot what the mod have called it) is practically the same as the current model I have now so that is no major drama. But I will see what I can do
Oh if possible, could you look for a few other pictures, just so I have some refrence as to that changes have been made. I remember seeing a photo somewhere of the new modular system, so i will try and scrounge that up again if I can

not the worst start, but seriously the vbf2 models or models for the community factions would be ways more urgent than redoing the best playermodels pr currently has (the only ones that are not taken from vbf2)

I'm sure a DEV will be in touch with you, or you should PM him with these questions. ALso I expect they will have a repository of british mililtary pictures you could gain access to. I would suggest PMing R-DEV Gaz or another senior DEV to gain guidance, as in the end they will be deciding what goes in to the mod.
Great work so far though, lovely to hear you'll be skinning this as well
oh, and I think it might be best to leave the neck collar out, but again ^ dev's word is better than mine.
