[AAR] Explosives

Seriously, watch your step, read the chat and look for RED MINES MARKER on map!
I just played as an Insurgent on Al Basrah, I was defending a cache on the eastern Island. I planted grenade traps near it to stop ennemy infantry. I killed more allies than ennemies. Actually, I only killed allies with these traps...
I did setted up a marker for each and every trap.
I typed there was trap on marker near cache and to watch your step in team chat multiple times.
Still, I think 3 people walked on it and died...
Seriously. Cant use explosives in a pub. :/
Not the first time this happen...
Good thing we can set multiple mine marker though.

If you put nade traps at entrances to caches then really you cant expect people not to hit them, only put nade traps ion areas where your teammates wont go. What if a friendly is taking fire and need to quickly rush indoors? Think before you place them "Will this nade trap hinder friendly movement?"

There was a nade trap on top of some stairs to a chache, I walked over the thing three times and after a fourth time *everytime i was standing* it killed me, lol. Sometimes they dont quite hinder movement, just are an inconvenience.

it is known that nade traps kill more friendlies than enemies. I think some devs said that too (?).

I've got grenade trap on a bridge once on korengal valley.
Marked it with mine marker and typed it on team chat multiple times. It was very easy for teammate to avoid it. Still, it killed more friendlies than ennemies...

My own rule of thumb is to never place nade traps within 50 meters of a cache. mainly as they tend to kill friendlies AND give away the cache location. Besides, if it gets to fighting close to a cache those nade trap are more of a liability than a help.

Yeap, you really cant blaim people for running over your traps if they are NEAR a cache. People with RPG's come rushing in to get new ammo, PKM's need ammo, new field dressings for SL's! Theres a LOT going on around caches so dont set them down there. Set them down in an area where you know the enemy is passing trough. One of the alley ways out of US main on fallujah for example. Hinder the movement elesewhere. Or near an enemy firebase.

O-M-G!
I was playing as an insurgent again on karbala this time.
There was a cache in G7 (Southeast of the map) if my memory is good.
I spent like half an hour planting mines on bridges, grenade trap and IED near the cache. All marked and everything.
I was lucky nobody killed themselves this time on my team.
Just as I was about to detonate my IED and kill a US logistic truck, I got killed!!!

Atleast I think one of my grenade trap killed US infantry.

If you use a grenade traps like you do your gun this wouldn't happen, e.g. if you know friendlies are in a building don't shoot into it, if you know friendlies will be crossing the street don't shoot into the street, if you know friendlies will be walking past that gate don't shoot at the gate.

There are two other, slightly better ways to use the traps:
1: When the enemy is going after you. If you have to leave a position because soldiers come close to it, try to shoot one or two of them (it's enough to hurt them) and run around the next corner, place a trap as quickly as possible (without marking it because you'd be too loud), watch and have fun. The other grenade you can throw when the medic tries to revive them.
2: Additional Roadmines. I had some kills when damaged humvees drove over my traps I had placed on the road. You can mark them, and chances for TK are lower.

Whats even more funny are people calling you a dumbass because they just killed themselves on one of your mine/trap JUST after you typed in teamchat there was mine/trap on x location and marked them on the map a long time ago.
And I'm not only talking about near cache.
It happened to me a few days ago with a mine on a bridge far away of the cache wich I advertised multiple time on teamchat and marked. Easy to avoid for a friendly vehicle.
Yeah, that bridge was leading to a cache but come on, it was a perfect spot to kill ennemy vehicle.
I basically gave up on grenade trap and mines but I do see a lot of people having the same problem I do when playing insurgency.
Its sad we cant use explosives beside of IED in a public game due to people st*pidity or should I say unawareness because explosives are amazing device to use against BLUFOR.
