Agreed, the sniper looks amazing. Less work for the devs, i think!

Still have to remodel the sf class. I am scared, i think a lot of people will wont to play american sf just because he has cool sunglasses....

w00t!
Read the description of US assault class. You CAN switch fire modes! And that sniper model does look great... omg BF2 is gunna rock. Some of those pics look REAL. And now TOW's will work, AT missles can be guided in the air with the curser. Sounds like it will work as the rockets in HL2 did... and I loved those things.

I watched the producer interview.. said maps around 4 square KM. For BF thats huge. But what I don't understand is why they are giving the US german weapons(G36, there was another too). ATM they aren't using these. Also the "Jackhammer" is just silly.... sure it may be in developement but a fully automatic 12 gauge shot gun is kinda silly. Sadly I saw more of that M203 vs. T80 **** in the ground combat vid, and the ragdoll physics are a bit out of whack. Helo was flying over and blasted a guy with a rocket, the guy almost hit the helo he flew so high.

The Pancor Jackhammer Mk3 completed development in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but only a few prototypes are known to exist. One seems to be owned by a theatrical gun-rental business and can be seen in the film Total Recall, I believe, used by "Richter" (Michael Ironside) during the Martian taxi chase.

Full-automatic shotguns have been around since the Vietnam War, actually. Remington had an experimental weapon that was used by SEALs operating in the Mekong Delta and the Rung-Sat Zone.

[Edit]Found the model number, Remington 7188.

It exists but "combat" shotguns aren't used for much more than breaking down doors these days. And with the new map sizes(4km, and chances are they can be pushed a bit bigger) firefights should be occuring over longer more realistic ranges, meaning a shotgun will be much less usefull. Assuming it IS used in combat it is not going to be effective and should have greatly deminished killing ability at longer ranges(100m)

Yes, I know. But UglyDuck said that it was in development, and I disagreed and said that development had ceased and no actual mass-production had taken place.
solodude23 wrote:Also what Ugly said, U.S. has the G36C and the G3, both which are not U.S. weapons. I doubt we would be using the G36 or G3 around 2008, whch is BF2's setting.
The US, particularly in special ops, has used foreign weapons on some operations. Keep in mind that the H&K MP-5 was never type-classified with a US "M" designation, but it was still used quite frequently in US service before being largely phased out in its intended role by assault carbines.

US and UK special operations forces sometimes used the G3 in varying configurations throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. However, H&K has recently announced that they will cease production of the G3 and related weapons, like the HK-33, HK-23 and HK-21, so I doubt we'll be seeing much of it in US / UK service in 2008 when older weapons reach the end of their service life and cannot be replaced.

As for the G36, it has found service in some US law enforcement agencies, including the US State Department Diplomatic Security Service Mobile Security Group (not sure why, but they must see some benefits), who often get posted abroad with their protectees, including at US consulates. G36 is not US military service, true, but it could possibly show up in US service alongside our military. This is not to say that I approve of it being in BF2, though.

UD, like you said, a combat shotgun (repeating or semi-automatic) is a specialized weapon, but it is not not just used for door-breaching. It is also for less lethal ammunition, close-quarters battle (including GOPLAT takedown and underway VBSS), jungle warfare, MOUT and military police / security operations. I would prefer to see it as a weapons option only on certain maps.

didnt read all of the whole discussion, but anyone worried about thegerman weapons, dont be. they are the unlockable weapons for every side. they just put them in the american weapons description for some reason.

THats true i think a more suitable unlockable item would be extra gear such as a different helmet or hat or a different set of camo.

Hah.. Have you guys not learned that BF2 don't gives a **** of realism, that's P:R's section :) .
BF2 is strictly arcade from the movies I've seen, actually none of the games in the Battlefield franchise is realistic from my point of view.
