[Map] Yamalia

Post by Deer »

Here is my second map for 0.9, Yamalia =) Its based on lowlands on northwestern area of siberia and has Canadians vs Russians. Map is combination of open bogs and taiga forest. Hopefully visual look makes you feel like being in middle of nowhere in siberia. Im sure having to walk through 4km map with no vehicles at all makes you feel just that ;)

Gamemodes
Map will have 3 layers for standard AAS v3 gamemode, there is actually about 17 flags in the map but only 6 of them will be randomly picked for each round, so there will be lots of variation when it comes to flags =) There is also the new Vehicle Warfare gamemode, and CNC and Skirmish.

Vehicles
Just kidding about no vehicles =) Both teams has plenty of transportation, including APCs, trucks, jeeps and helicopters. Tanks are only on vehicle warfare gamemode.

Fortifications
Hopefully this map makes it more fun and interesting to build your own fortifications, each flag has already some fortifications but by building more yourself you can make flags be real fortresses which will require some teamwork and tactics to be destroyed.

Looking good, I love those middle of nowhere maps. My toughts goes to the Finnish continuation war and the book Tuntematon sotilas (The unknown soldier) with all those trenches in that landscape. The maps name suggests it is not based in Karelia, but maybe the inspiration comes from there.

nah, the Karelia is one bigass dense forest with lakes and bogs inside of them, this map looks closer to tundra-ish environment imo

the fortifications looks epic :D

Looks really nice, and a nice variation to all the dense urban maps. Looks nothing like any other current map, good job!
