That's what happens when servers allows baserape. And then the players come on here to complain about how "boring" insurgency is...

I see no issue here.......and for server that disalllow base rape, sure its your server your rules, but I wouldn't disallow this on korengal.

Wasnt this yesterdays match? I was down near the river or the cache the whole time. Especially with the video, it looks like to me that they ddnt even try to leave the main. All they did all round was ***** about getting shot at main rather than leave and attack caches. Was only ever one squad at a time that left, only cache that went down was tked.

there is baserape irl so this is a legitimate tactic in PR insurgency (with the Iraqi fighters or Taliban). that is why i am also generally against the dod (dome of death) in insurgency game modes.

besides, the US forces have superior weapons systems and so should not complain. there is balance.

Become? The 0.8 version of Korengal was far more susceptible to base rape and the changes in 0.9 I feel have gone a hell of a long way to balancing the map and reducing the instances of base rape.

Not that I feel there is anything wrong with it on insurgency.

@Meza from my POV I think that whilst attacking the BLUFOR base at range is acceptable and entirely realistic I do not think that it is so realistic for the insurgents/Taliban to be able to simply walk into the actual base compound (a la Lashkar Valley) due to the fact that in RL the coalition strength at an FOB would be much superior to that which can be represented in-game, hence the DoD.

This is and will continue to be a server option.
Meza82 wrote: that is why i am also generally against the dod (dome of death) in insurgency game modes.
Most games would be over quickly if all the INS had to do was take over a base. We dont have a full force to defend a base like real life. This is why we have DOD. Its a game play thing to increase playablity.... and this comes from a "f*ck them if they cant get there sh*t together" dev attitude ;-)

As far as Korengal, I have play a few time while the base was under attack and escaped every time. There are a few options for leaving. Pop some smoke to easy your leave.

Here are the options I use
RED: Main way
Blue: Mountain pass
Green: Most options
Light Blue: Down the cave/cliff face
Yellow: Along the mountain side

yeah, almost all of our team was just pissing and moaning around inside main, made the match really frustrating.

How could you even say that after the video I just posted? In addition to having the high ground, we also had snipers shooting into their main, one of my grenadiers was lobbing nades at will in there, RPGs were raping their main, and the arty was a cake walk to call in. The Dome of Death did save them from me coming in there and raping them head on lol. IMO, the base before was far better than the one now, it just needed a bigger dome of death or for the choke points to be eliminated. Now, the insurgents can come down from the hills and stop any chance of logistic trucks getting out of their main, and they even have more cover now (trees) to do it.

You're doing it wrong.

The old base was easy to base rape; there was a great hill to the South/East to fire down from with RPGs and etc. There wasn't a lot of cover in the base; save for the green box-homes and the LMG bunkers, there wasn't anything with a roof and walls to save you from explosives.

The old base was easy to ambush outside of. With one overused route out of the main with a vehicle, every vehicle died within 100m of main if the insurgent team was ambushing on that road. There was 3 popular ways out of main on foot; that same path, going North across the river, or going South to try to climb the mountainside (which often enough resulted in US squads jumping on a cliffside for 30 minutes before a taliban squad found them).

Now, the new base has a much more strategic positioning; the mountain to the North is the ONLY feasible firing position for the Taliban (which has a lack of trees up at the top; easier for a small base defense squad with a sniper kit to dispose of threats).

Ambushing out of the main is extremely hard now with many ways to leave as shown by CodeRedFox. Smoke up the path, enlist another squad to get heavy fire up on the ridgeline, whatever you need to get yourselves out of the main base safely; once you're out of view from the mountain ridge, you're set.

Anyone with half a brain should know to run inside the nearest building if RPGs or Mortars are targeting the main. There are around 15 buildings in the base; just get inside one, go prone, and stay away from the door, and you'll be okay.

If you're stuck inside the new Korengal main, you're going about it all wrong.

There are even more ways out than that. You can exit over the south wall with ease, as well as at any perimeter bunker by jumping on the roof. Even with it totally surrounded it's still easy to escape. Simply use the specialist and his magic rope, and you can rappel down the face of the cave just west of the wall. Once at it's base, then run from tree to tree, favoring ones with foliage the touches the ground. When you do that, and don't shoot at everything that moves, then it is very easy.

The trouble is that most people walk down the middle of the roads, don't vary their routes, and don't have any fire discipline.

As an aside, if you've ever looked at some of the near sheer cliff faces, occasionally there is a random rock jutting out. Those rocks are not accidentally there.

As even another aside, the taliban can be completely wiped out of the mountains north of the US main, and then held off with relative ease. If the US are on the ball about it, they can clear the area north of the passes, then prevent both the baserape, and have easy access to new caches if they spawn in the north. But so far this version I have only seen it attempted twice, once successfully. But its only been a couple of weeks, so it might become a common tactic.

Agreed with Celestial, the new mainbase is far superior in its positioning and easy to kill spawn campers as long as you have half a brain... whereas the old mainbase, once your stuck there, it was prety much over.

Plus theres alot of routes out of the base and you get a good overwatch on most of the valley...

That said, I think korengal is still going to be spammy gameplay because its only 1km, not much you can do on that though...

Well quite easily really based on personal experience and the sheer number of videos and AARs from the old version re-counting extreme levels of baserape.

I have played the new version several times and this is the first time i've seen anything approaching the content of your video. As others have said there are so many more routes out and it is far easier to kill those who are still trying to attack the main than in the old version. As Celestial said the US team were simply failing very very hard and this is an extreme example.

Also as Fuzz states the US now have great overwatch over the valley which is an advantage they rarely had in 0.8/0.85.

Depends what you call spammy, if you call action packed and fast paced spammy then sure ;)

It is far superior to other "spammy" maps like Sunset City or Operation Ghost Train.
