[Q] How to achieve maximum accuracy with rifles/mg
Hi,
I'd like to say before making this thread I did use the search function available and most of the threads I found on this subject were either out of date or didn't sufficiently answer my question.
So as the title suggests, how can I achieve maximum accuracy with rifles/mg. I'm thinking about exactly how much time I can fire after standing/crouch/prone for weapons and bullet drop over distance (especially for the mg) in pr 0.9.

Will this work for you?
'[R-CON wrote:nedlands1;1256801']Okay here's a little guide I quickly made
Definitions:
- Movement Settle Time - Time for deviation to disperse after walking/running/crawling.
- Prone/Jump Settle Time - Time for deviation to disperse after jumping or going prone.
- Single Shot Settle Time - Time for deviation to disperse after shooting a single shot.
Assault Rifles/Battle Rifles
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 5 seconds (1 second per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: 1.01 seconds (up to a maximum of 2.02 seconds)
- Instaproning doesn't work
- Try to wait just over a second after turning before firing
Undeployed Machine Guns
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 4.17 seconds (0.875 seconds per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: N/A
Deployed Machine Guns
- Instaproning doesn't work
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 8.33 seconds (1.65 seconds per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: N/A
- Instaproning doesn't work
- Deviation due to firing is irrelevant
- Try to wait just over a second after turning before firing
Undeployed Designated Marksmen Rifles
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 5 seconds (1 second per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: 1.01 seconds (up to a maximum of 2.02 seconds with 2 shots)
- Instaproning doesn't work
- Deviation is exactly the same as the assault/battle rifles.
Deployed Designated Marksmen Rifles
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 8.13 seconds (1.61 seconds per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: 2.08 seconds (up to a maximum of 2.08 seconds with a single shot)
- Instaproning doesn't work
- Automatic fire isn't as good as the deployed machine guns
- Try to wait just over a second after turning before firing
Sniper Rifles
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 7.94 seconds (1.57 seconds per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: 4.17 seconds (up to a maximum of 4.17 seconds with a single shot)
- Instaproning doesn't work
Shotguns
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 6.67 seconds (instantly reaches maximum when moving)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: 2.59 seconds (up to a maximum of 2.59 seconds with a single shot)
- Instaproning doesn't work
- Deviation due to shooting/moving is irrelevant due to the close engagement ranges and small size of the deviation.
Submachine Guns
Comments
- Movement Settle Time: Up to 4.17 seconds (0.875 seconds per second of movement)
- Prone/Jump Settle Time: 4.44 seconds
- Single Shot Settle Time: 1.94 seconds (up to a maximum of 1.94 seconds with a single shot)

- Single Shot Settle Time: 0.56 seconds (up to a maximum of 0.56 seconds with a single shot)
- Instaproning doesn't work
Underslung Grenade Launchers

Ty Wrestlers_Konglisch, exactly what I was looking for.
I think it would help a lot of people I think if that thread/those stats were stickied or added to the manual because second to tactics and strategy it is probably the most important aspect of the game.

More accuracy, less recoil.

Back on topic, Auto riflemen deployed should be used for defense, IE covering your squad. Undeployed is better for attacking, since you have greater movement speed. If your going to shoot n scoot, don't deploy.

prone diving is pretty ineffective, what range are you talking about? of course people still use hacks, always will. and how ever large deviation is, there is always a chance they will get you with a lucky shot.deadlie1 wrote:Can someone explain to me then how when 2 guys are ruming and see each other why one guy dolphin dives and 1 shot boom your dead. Crouching is the best option.

What annoys me is that, in CQB, instaproning+spray is more effective than crouch/aim.gazzthompson wrote:prone diving is pretty ineffective, what range are you talking about? of course people still use hacks, always will. and how ever large deviation is, there is always a chance they will get you with a lucky shot.

When you use ironsights you can watch your character align their rear sights with their front sights slowly. Does that animation have anything to do with the current state of your deviation?
If not I really think PR could do with some visual cue as to the state of your deviation.

Re: [Q] How to achieve maximum accuracy with rifles/mg
A rifle doesn't operate with a cone of fire in real life, it's going to hit where you point it, but this is implemented here for gameplay just as a visual cue would be implemented for gameplay. That said, becoming familiar with the deviation time and getting in the routine of resting for several seconds before firing your first shot means you do not need a visual cue.ganja420 wrote:do you get visual cues in real life?

excatly, im sure everyone here can count to five, so a visual cue shouldnt really be necessary ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

this is the only thing that needs to be sticky'd. maybe we need a noob section in the forum....lots of them are out there asking the same questions

Wrong. Don't you think it's a little tacky that we're expected to count under our breath before shooting? This is warfare, not hopscotch!ganja420 wrote:excatly, im sure everyone here can count to five, so a visual cue shouldnt really be necessary![]()
I've heard here-say that we may be getting a deviation indicator in a while. Might just be rumors.
But I have to agree that visual cues would greatly help newer players get a feel for it. Hell, I think it took me about a year before I really got comfortable with knowing when to shoot based on distance to target, stance, and time spent aiming. It's a tough thing to do and can be very frustrating if you don't know how the system works.

it depends on ping. i've almost completely stopped using scopes becuase i always play on a server where i have 150+ ping so i won't hit anything.
