im sorry if this has been mentioned before, i searched and didnt find it. i am the only one who thinks the fob hmgs are underperforming in their role as FOB defense? i feel that the disadvantages of their blatant presence (huge noise, huge tracers, huge immobile sandbag emplacement) far outweigh their firepower (which is limited by field of view, and the current sight picture). are the devs happy with how they currently perform? my feedback is based not only on my own inability to use them effectively but from my enemies' inability to use them on me.

I have to agree with you because they seem to be there just for a visual effect. Maybe if they fired quicker and had a better swivel?

I also never see anyone using it.

I think the HMGs could be made much more attractive, just by adding a (maybe 2x) zoom.
Right now, i mostly see HMGs (if i rarely see one, that is) firing indirectly on an attack marker (which is not extremely precise), or unaimed for supressing fire (which is not the best idea, being a big, immobile target)

The iron sights need to be slot larger(on the m2) and maybe have a little zoom on them like the landrovers had in 0.87

I agree, I man FOB's fairly often and these things seem only useful as a long range suppression tool.
Would be alot more effective with some zoom and a bit more of an arc.
Its seems very easy to shot people out of them too?

They perform as cover better than as weapons.

You guys have a point. It's almost impossible to hit anything with the stationary FOB machineguns.

If they could have more of a swivel radius rather than a short arc, they could be much more effective as a enemy can just see it and hide from the short radius the machine gun can fire and some zoom would be nice. Possibly redesign the MG emplacement to look more like the TOW with sandbags around the the machinegun on the edge on a complete swivel?

Heh, yeah, I often hide in the emplacement with a SAW

They should make them like the static AT guns in FH2 where the keyboard moves the base/carriage and the mouse moves the gun its self.
But b4 these emplacements they had the old kind which were too exposed and people said the need more cover and here we are.

how long would it take to code in a default view zoom or secondary zoom mode? it seems to me like it would be simple because a similar feature exists on the tow missile, but i really have no idea.

Lets put them on a "tripod" thingie like the TOW? I have seen people drive Landies to FOBS just to be able to put down effective .50 cal fire.

Yep, something needs to be done to make them more useful, currently I just hide in the emplacement and use my rifle. Much more flexible, directable and accurate.

UPDATE: According to the 0.91 Changelog Page in the forums, deployable MG's are being given a 4x zoom. Sweet.

Yeah, they are too low to the ground IMO.
