What will the fixed wing assets likely to be personally i'd like to the the A-1 Skyraider and the A-4 skyhawk.
The problem is there are so goddamn may jets used in that era F-4, F-105, F-104, A-6 and many many more...

I'd guess they'd simplify it to probably the most modern, like the A-7, F-4, A-4, MiG-19s, maybe even 21s. And if were lucky, maybe even a F-14! (YAY!!!)

Are yous serious? The F-14 was barely used in the Vietnam war... It only came into service by the time the US was retreating Vietnam...
But I agree, Maybe A-4s, A-7s, F-8s, F-4s, F-105's if we're lucky, mig-17, Mig-19, mig-21s and possibly an A-1 skyraider. Those things are awsome!

A-1 FTW.
^ Dedicated CAS asset, far more appropriate than any jets considering the map sizes.
BTW the fixed wing air assets in the EoD2 files are:
- A-1
- A-4
- A-7
- F-4
- F-5
- F-105
- Mig-15
- Mig-19
- Mig-21
- J-2
- B-52

BLUFOR- A-1(Super CAS) F-4(CAS, Air Superiority) F-105(Wild Weasel)
OPFOR- Mig-19(CAS) Mig-21(CAS, Air Superiority)
My 2 cents.

I'd like to see that as the commander authorized area attack, like the JDAM, except
CARPET BOMBING!!!

Very much over the North, MiG 17 and 21s were fighitng F4s and other jets which were trying to bomb Hanoi's industrial sites, the operation was called Rolling Thunder which lasted from 65 to 68. Alot of USAF planes were shot down due to SAMs and Migs. Also due to the losses in Rolling Thunder the Air Force relized that they cant rely only on AA missles but needed classic cannons that they used in WWII. (the F4s in the begining had no Vulcan MG, only missles which were kinda ****, the Migs had cannons which gavem a very big advantage, so as the war continued, USAF put in the Vulans on the F4s which shot down more Migs)

Im not sure that OPFOR aerial assets are really appropriate for PR:V. Thats not to say that the NVPAF didnt get their fair share of dogfights (or kills) however, more that these really only took place over North Vietnam proper during Rolling Thunder and Linebacker I and II. More to the point, I dont think any NVPAF MiGs got further south than the DMZ, so having them in the same theatre as US/ARVN ground troops would be erroneous.
As PR:V (in true PR tradition) will probably be focused mainly on ground combat, I think the fixed wing should be restricted to CAS, so the Skyraider and maybe some F4s/105s. Of course, the NVA/VC will need a corresponding amount of AAA.
If someone were to make a Laos/N Vietnam border, dogfight-only map however...

if a North Vietnam map is made....we need angry North Vietnamese civilians welcoming the parashooting US piolt with shoes and sticks...
anyway I have a question about tanks, I almost never heard of VC/NVA armor going into South Vietnam, in the Easter Offensive they did and also in Battle of Lang Vei but thats it. I mean it goes along the lines of the NVAF not going down south. so tbh i dont think NVA should get tanks in most of the maps.

I'd be fine with just this aircraft.

There was a whole bunch. Especially during Operation Rolling Thunder. <-Such a sweet name for a air campaign.

Hmong Guerillas w/ CIA support vs NVA in Laos is my vote. Then we can use the B-52s to carpet bomb the plane of jars, just like they did in real life!
I'm sorry, the historian in me escaped. I put him back now, we should be safe.
