I think it would be awesome if you guys added classic rock as the main music in this mod because it blends in with the feel of the Vietnamese war. I also love classic rock and would love it see in a game other then Battlefield Vietnam.

I imagine licensing could be an issue there.

I think ambience sounds for the background would be awesome, like a raining sound or jungle sounds.

Also,I do imagine licensing would be a problem. Although it doesn't even require a half talented person to rip off any of those songs and insist they are 'new' or 'original' so I don't think there's any problem.

Plus the PR Team has some great music guys so they'll do the right thing.

copyright, guess PR:V will just stick to their own sound, since every thing else would cause problems with the license

I imagine PR:V will be under the same constraints as EoD. Both mods are under BSS and EoD uses a few decent classic tunes.

Some areas of royalties and rights are confusing and aren't really outlined clearly.

Whilst using someones music in a free mod for a computer game wouldn't be covered by performance rights as it's not being aired publicly, it may infringe upon the 'mechanical' rights of the composer. Then again mechanical rights are usually covering physical mediums such as CDs or DVDs.

I'm not entirely sure.

There was a old mod for battlefield Vietnam called battlefield Vietnam:ARSENAL and they used classic rock as the menu and map load screen and they didn't get in trouble with the law.

I like this. It actually sends chills up my spine thinking about being at the loading screen listening to this. Think of it, you're walking through the jungle looking for VZ, then BOOM!, you're getting ambushed.

no dude..... it would be same licensing issue like in Battlefield : Vietnam
like in the helicopters they have music but only like for 45 secs and that's nothing :S

Best option would be to ask someone who plays guitar etc. to records some music similiar to music popular in vietnam [ Vietcong 1 and 2] or find some band which plays this kind of music. [ Im sure there are some small less known 'retro' bands that agree to use their music in mod, just search myspace ]
