Server: Hardcore AAS/insurgency(my first time on this server)
players: Richyrich something, ba()pilot and greenberet for part of it.
So I'd been having fun in an LAV on falujah in the match before and decided I'd have a bit of fun and join the heli trans squad for the next game on Muttrah. This turned out to be a brilliant decision.
The first few minutes were just ferrying people to to docks, which was fine by me, it's what I joined the squad for. After a quiet period we got someone wanting to build mortars on top of the hotel, which again wasn't a problem. The other pilots were brilliant and never taking direct routes.
The problem came when the enemy realised we were regularly going in and out and decided to get the AA up. I'd been given the task of getting a guy called VICIOUS and one of the admins called machineofdeath to a certain place that I wasn't too pleased about, as there wasn't much cover on the approach. About 100m from the LZ we came under AA lock. Having never done evasive manoeuvres outside of a local practice server I proceeded to brick it and through the huey in a tight turn with flares coming out of my arse quicker than the runny stuff.
Needless to say I ran out of flares pretty damn fast, and the evasive slaloms hadn't done much to stop a single AA missile smashing into my side. Thouroughly pissed off, I was considering bailing and getting a lift back to the spare huey, and I probably would have done if I didn't still have poor helpless passengers, who would have most definitely died.
Reducing my slalom to a mere wobble, I limped back to the carrier with my vision going very strange due to the damage. Half expecting the engine to die out before I got there, I ordered all the hueys out of the way of the deck and actually managed to land it, which I was very proud of. After resupplying the flares and thanking the admins and players for their compliments I proceeded to drop them off successfully, without further damage.
Personally this was a brilliant round for me, especially as I was only killed once by some sneaky git with an unguided missile launcher of some sort. I had good squadmates who followed orders when needed and took the initiative, and they were all great pilots. I can't even describe the whole round because it was so intense, at times I was on the ground coordinating my squadron and others I was battling to get home after being shot by small arms and bleeding out.

lol I've had a go at being the gunner of an apache a couple of times, even with thermal it just wasn't as fun as transport.
