I've been playing PR for a long time now and whilst I've always quite wanted to record my gameplay I've never really had the time/inclination/inspiration etc etc to actually bother.
However, recently I've been watching the video's of a certain dbzao and have been inspired to start creating my own. The goal is very simple; to show PR gameplay exactly as it is, no special effects or fancy editing just straight up PR.
Because I'm pretty much a complete noob with this sort of thing I have followed DB's guide for creating these things to the letter and it really does show just how simple it is when you put your mind to it.
So here's my first attempt, and also not incidentally my first attempt at gunning in an attack chopper. Please excuse my microphone which I'll be fixing for future videos.
I hope you enjoy it, let me know if there is anything I could do differently and I promise I will be recording more and more soon.

Not too bad, more of the same from Savage/db but good to watch none the less.
I'd suggest cutting out some of the stuff where you aren't doing anything, EG hovering over Zulu around 1 minute in.

I actually prefer when people show how Pr looks like, the more editing the closer to that bad attack chopper videos overedited with only permanent pure action again and again. I find it more boring when it's only pew pew kills, no fail and cool music.
I like that many of people are inspired by Db way of doing it and we see a lot of actual gameplay videos with coms and stuff. :>

much prefer to watch gameplay videos then frag vids, much more interesting imo, especially when you get two perspectives of the same assault etc
having issues with recording sound with fraps and XP myself, otherwise i'd be fully on the bandwagon

Yeah its good, but I as the viewer don't want to see minutes of silence and looking around.
By all means, 30 seconds before and after the engagement is fine, I don't want another frag vid either

Cheers for the comments lads.
I think it's partly because it's a chopper gunner video that there is a little bit of waiting, believe me there was a lot more that got cut out so I guess it's about striking a good balance between showing kills and showing the time it takes to get them.

New video, infantry work this time playing on the PRTA server. Thanks to [FSG]Oskar for some good squad leading, really made it an enjoyable round.
Again let me know what you think of the gameplay and video as a whole.
E: No idea why the thumbnail image is so green, video is normal...

I think a lot of it depends on the position you are fighting.
While all aspects of PR have a certain flavor to them, some are more suited to being filmed with coms and for long periods of time, and other for short clips.
Armor and heavy assets are more in tune to short burst of action rather than long films. Really is not much com talk with the team or squad unless it is between driver and gunner. An instance where this would work well though is with Mech Infy squads. I know db has done a bunch of those and they leave a good after taste like, "heck yea thats PR at its best!" You get the infantry aspect as well as some armor action for asset lovers.
At the same time it revolves around the viewer taste and everyone is different. Right now the majority of my videos put up are action sequences relating to PR; armor, infy, and just some slapstick, plus a few helicopter movies. To me it is not the meat of PR, but it is fun for someone who has been around the game for a long time. Adding to that it is entertaining...for me anyway. Don't put me as one who only like to derp around in main and play with big explosions, I love the feeling of a good suppressive fire down the street, and checking corners for caches. However, if you are not the person in control of the situation, it may be a little stale. (found this out after watching a 50 min recording of myself...but that's 50 minutes.)
Project Reality on YouTube has certainly grown, and having a diverse collection of clips will not hurt it in any way. Frag clips, actions spot, machinima, and first person gameplay offer that variety.
Good gameplay Jigsaw! Look forward to seeing more. Filming in-game gets addictive so watch your hard drive space!
How much space does it take to reload a 19 min video like that?

Well the basic, unedited footage was about an hour and a half or 85 GB, once I'd edited it down and compressed it it was about 800 MB and that took around 110 minutes to upload.
Hope that answers the question?

Nah, I'm on Vista actually.
My mic is on full volume with +10.0dB boost. In-game effects volume is at 50% and voice over is at 100%.
