[List] Describe Your "Tactical Style"

Post by Web_cole »

If that makes any sense. :p Mostly aimed at Squad Leaders, how do you like to approach a game? Do you go all out aggressive and never see a defense marker for the entire round, or are you always the defender? Do you get itchy feet if you sit still for more than two minutes, or is a T-building your castle?

It's a pretty broad question I guess, so let me try and answer it myself. I think if I had to describe my play style in one word it would be Opportunism. I'm quite happy to be the guy who caps the first flag, and I can sit back and build FoBs and hold the fort, but if you give me an opening I'll back cap you before you know whats what. I recognise the importance of being able to change gears and to - often quite literally- never approach a problem from the same direction twice. The right tool for the right job, maybe.

What about the rest of you? :)

cool topic I bet :D Must be a lot of interesting tips to get here.

I can recognise myself in your style a bit. I dont mind sitting on defence somewhere. And I have my map open a lot to check opportunities or wholes in a defence or offence.

I'd like to take it steady when I'm on assault. Ideally I would have all my guys on Mumble so I can easily let my AR and myself sit on a good covered position to cover my squad who are moving to the next cover position. They than fan out and cover me and the AR when we move up. And than it repeats. This is mainly because of devation in PR. Me and the AR will almost be settled perfectly so we can at least surpress and hopefully even kill a say Insurgent who ducks across the corner to kill the rest of the squad. It gives them an extra second.

On defence I like to fan my guys out and patrol them a little bit if they are bored. This also helps to find incoming enemies rather than get knifed in the back ;)

Like you said, being able to change gears is important. Sometimes you need to move quick and be aggressive, others you need to sit back and hold tight. Though I always try and balance it out with the fun factor, so If I think I can gamble and have myself and my squad have some more fun on a risky maneuver, tactic, then sometimes I'll do that too.

I'd sum my playstyle up as

Advance aggressively (i.e. as fast as possible) to a position I can easily hold and which gives me some kind of benefit, e.g. the position is in a flag radius or allows me to shoot down on the enemy easily (e.g. the big apartment on Beirut). Rinse and repeat if I'm on the attack, withdraw to the best defensive position if I'm defending a flag.

One speed, Go!
I tend to use the advantage of speed, suprise and dare. Go in fast, attack them right in their faces. Take the keypositions before the enemy takes them. Crush their initial attack then push them back using the small gap in time you have.

rush like a boss to places that the enemy wont expect you to be at game starts which normally gives your team time to cap the flags behind you

during the game, i usually make assault squads and when i defend i don't like boring people so i normally hang around for a little then move off if i see another squad moving to defend or something

High speed, low drag, right through the middle where there is the most enemies. Shoot first, dont ask questions at all. ;)

Haters be hatin', but then again they usually get shot by my squad! Whatcha gonna do?

shoot ppl in the face. my tactic is beeing better and faster (aimingskill wise) than my enemys are.

fun for me is killing the enemys as often as possible. cap them to a certain position and rush in the beginning like a boss, but then just hold at theyre 2nd to last flag and let them walk into the killzones as often as possible.

My style is all about patience and opportunism. Ofcourse all games give plenty of opportunities to be aggressive and take chances, progressing further than the enemies expect and get the advantage of surprise. But most of all, you need patience. It feels like whenever I do everything by the book and my squad rans tired of me being careful and thoughtful, we gain the most. That includes setting up the respective roles in the squad and always make sure they get the full potential of their kit with positioning and such, and being careful about where you go. Having said that you need to have the balls to do something drasticly when an opportunity arises.

I guess where i do best, is having the full overview of the match and the map, usually figuring out where enemies would be, strike next and what you would need to do to counter. Ive also directed a few 25vs25 clan matches, which gives alot of good experience, id recommend it to any squadleader/platoon leader that wants to exceed himself.

Alternative is one of my styles: If I lead the squad, I always approach the objective in an other perspective than usually. For example instead of C4 Rushing an objective I order my squad and the pilot (If he wants to) to do an quick C4 Insertion. One of the other things is shooting all you have to get that psychological effect against the enemy, so they will bugger off.

One I always use is: Keep the Fuck moving or I execute you directly! I don't like trolls that give away my squads' position while flanking etc. When moving you are less vunerable for mortar fire and is lessens the chance of getting flanked.

I try to advance fast, always be one step ahead of the enemy, and get my squad to camp good [topographical] positions [i.e. top of hill, watching a street] 'KEEP FIRING IF YOU DO YOU WILL WIN THERE ARE FIVE OF YOU'.

Unfortunately it doesn't always go to plan, and I think a lot of squad members struggle to understand my objectives or style. A key part is to find a fob and gradually close it down.

In general I never think of defense, because I see the Squad as an extension of me and I always play to advance and confuse the enemy. But as mentioned it doesn't generally workwith a full squad..

I'm learning to slow it down and basically just leapfrog between good camping spots. But I do feel that with the right squad full of like minded people it would be possible to blitzkreig the enemy. But i'm not too bothered, I live for the moment when all of my guys are prone, deviation settled, and focusing on one point.. and then an enemy squad enters and we all fire at once. That for me is worth all the nagging and constant babysitting and explaining.

i'm a bit narccistic perhaps.. Apologies.. Lol..

Agree. Speed is of the essence.

Just now my squad managed to outflank the entire USMC team on the 100-player server and cap North City AND Docks within 3 minutes, thanks to Hexxor (?) - FIN APC - who cleared all the FOBs :D

We got pushed back later though :(
