Re: [Map] Operation Snow Storm
All server admins have now been notified that they are free to run this map on their server. You will have to have this map installed on the client side to connect to a server showing as running this map.

Re: [Map] Operation Snow Storm
[minor bug-report] Couldn't request kits off the Brit vehicles.
Map reminded me alot of Norway. Gave me a instant lust for skiing, to bad you didn't put some skis in the mains. Could code them as a vehicle.
First impression was very good. But i see you made it quick, Rhino. And that you're not too familiar with snow
j/k - but fact is this very thin layer of snow would gather very different from how it's portrayed.

Re: [Map] Operation Snow Storm
hilpads is known, if it was an official map I would have made an invisible supply point but didn't really have the time.
you need the updated python if your running your map on a dedicated server for the crewman and kit req bugs on vehicles, look in the server admin forums.
and ye, some tents around the staging area may happen if it becomes an official map some time in the future + other statics.

So do I, and my current computer is crappy as well. Might be it^^maarit wrote:is it my crappy computer but i see those black lines in terrain?

They appear to be at the end of the detail terrain texture. They are not visible when I'm flying, so the distant terrain texture is not affected, it's just the border of the detail texture that's messed up. Maybe that's fixable.

I have terrible Graphics, because i tend to dual boot other programs so keep em low while generally playing.

So what have you been doing since 0.5?As mentioned before, this map was only developed for a one off community event so what happens to it after that we haven't made our minds up about that quite yet but in order for PR to have a "official snow map", we would need to do lots of work with crating lots of new materials, sounds, effects, textures etc that would take a lot of our workforce a lot of time to complete, this map is a simple knock up right now
Oh right, you are throwing away the RP for 0.9. That took some years to do. Having this kind of maps, we will wait like, 20 years.
But this failures will probably stop, when you guys get the money rolling with PR2, and get professional and stuff.
Can't wait.

Re: [Map] Operation Snow Storm
are you talking about me? Fine I'll give you a pretty much a full list...nicoliani wrote:So what have you been doing since 0.5?
For v0.4 I developed OGT, once v0.4 was released I believe I went strait onto crating Muttrah City v2 along with also looking into experimenting with 8km, 4km and other types of maps, one of thous experiments being Qinling which was actually PR's first 4km map, Kashan was simply started being developed after Qinling and released before Qinling and was only released before Qinling because I finished it off for duckhunt (much like I've finished off pretty much all of his maps, I use to spend a hell of a lot of my time helping many of the other mappers in the team when I was Lead Mapper...). Qinling was finally released in v0.7 iirc, and Muttrah v2 took much longer than I planned to make, mainly because it was simply a massive task with many new statics needed to be made for it, but also because I had many different projects running at the same time which you wouldn't believe how much slows down your progress. Muttrah v2 was finally released in a slightly unfinished state in v0.8
Since then I've been working on multiple projects, many you can read up on in the highlights forums and my blog but my main projects are still secrete.

Now maybe I'm taking it the wrong way but I find it quite offensive for you to be asking what I've been doing like I've not been doing anything at all. I worked my butt off to get this map done in 4 days and trust me, I've been working constantly on many other projects too so if you have a problem with how much work I do I suggest you learn how to do this stuff yourself and find out how hard it is to do what we all do here.
Happy?
EDIT:
cheeky little b*stard!nicoliani wrote:Oh right, you are throwing away the RP for 0.9. That took some years to do. Having this kind of maps, we will wait like, 20 years.

For one I have pretty much nothing to do with the RP being removed thou I'm on board with what ever decision is finally taken with that and even when/if PR2 takes off, I will probably have little/nothing to do with it.
Enjoy your temp ban for disrespecting not just myself, but many other devs too.
