[AAR] Pilots of old times were no better then now
Now this story is from long ago, back when the Chinese light attack heli was on the map (I think it was Quai River?) and the US attack LB were still on that map.
After joining up with a VOIP squad, we proceeded to clear out enemy Chinese APC's and transports, and capping points like no tomorrow. The Chinese team got pretty pissed at us, and after a harrowing escape from 3 squads trying to take us down, we went to the fairly middle-of-the-map located village/walled off buildings to cap it.
Needless to say, after APC's and swarms of troops we thought the worst had past, when we heard that they had sent the light attack chopper to shred our asses in to ground beef.
(An enemy squad actually said that, knowing we didn't have anything left to counter it - we had no AT nor AR)
Our own chopper was down, we had no APC support, nearest friendlies were busy fighting in the map corner and all we had for cover were these light metal plates surrounding the village, and some big silos to hide behind.
A plan came up to use the plates and silos and run circles with the chopper behind us, knowing that his bullets could not go through either obstacles.
He fired endlessly at us, even having to go back to his main THREE TIMES to rearm his spent cannon rounds, and we just stayed at the same spot trying to get our team to react.
The bullets impacted so close to us, you could reach out and lose an arm but he never, ever hit anyone good enough to actually wound them.
For the next HOUR, the attack chopper completely missed every single one of its circle strafes, straight strafes and ramming attacks. (He got pretty frustrated), while we were running cricles around the barriers and using the silos to block his view.
He hunted us in one spot for so long our team managed to get the attack LB up and running, it came over to our position and shot the tosser down in a single run. Chinese pilot proceeded to rage, we laughed and capped the next flag.
I never had any pilot have such horrid aim in my PR history, this guy couldnt hit the broad side of the silo, and he didn't know the metal barriers stopped his bullets too.
All in all, we couldn't believe how this guy could miss 6 guys, sometimes standing STILL, for a complete hour and managing to get shot down in the end. All the time he was circling just 7m above us, 3m in front of us and strafing like mad.

Have you ever used that helicopter and done good with it? It's easily the crappiest one in the game.

Without splash damage that chopper is so hard to kill inf with.

@Raic
exactly... you need to be taught how to fly that thing. everything else just comes to you.

As I remember it the transport LB was more of a threat to it then it was to the transport LB.Welshboy wrote:That thing used to rip enemy choppers apart on qwai

A decent pilot in it who new that he couldn't kill inf, shouldn't go head on with the american LB and to be weary of the TOW gunner could do a lot of damage to the US not only through killing but also scouting.

If the Wasp got on the LB's tail it could take it down easily, i could anyway. It's only if it's the opposite way round and the LB gets on the wasp's tail. One on one the LB would have wonNimise wrote:As I remember it the transport LB was more of a threat to it then it was to the transport LB.

The handling on the Wasp was extremely odd. I found it a lot easier to handle the LB because of the amount of unrealistic twists and turns and up-side down fun that you can do with it. The LB definitely has the better maneuverability than the Wasp, but a lot easier to get killed in especially since it has no windows

And, from my experience, the bullets do jack-shit damage.503 wrote:The handling on the Wasp was extremely odd. Having an AA kit on the transport LB's side rail means that the Wasp will go down either way.

You can shoot an LB down with an AKMendozaMan wrote:And, from my experience, the bullets do jack-shit damage.

No, I mean the wasp-cannons do jack shit.Herbiie wrote:You can shoot an LB down with an AK
In the end I got hit by a full-on strafe, and I didn't even bleed.
That says much when jumping from 2 feet high can make you bleed-die.

Weak gun+extremely accurate+no splash. If you manage to hit the guys you can usually kill them but hitting them while flying is hard.MendozaMan wrote:No, I mean the wasp-cannons do jack shit.

Clearly you never saw me on Barracuda when a friend invited me to the attack Huey squad. I took one chopper out and never made it back to the Carrier. I was so afraid of crashing into the back of him on our first attack run that I leveled out and didnt have enough speed. An FAV got enough rounds into me and I got critical damage over the beach, and crashed into the water.
Another time I flew some supplies to some friends on Muttrah. What I think was a BTR got some hits on me on the way in. I dropped the crate off target(but close enought that they were still able to use it, thank god) and I started to get the vibration over the roundabout near the edge of the map. I finally lost it just outside the entrance to the docks. I thought I could fudge my way over to the repair depot and maybe save the chopper.
This is why I stay on the ground, my name is Wh33lman, not W1ngman.

why are people saying the wasp cannons are weak?! there were bloody powerful! and yes it was very odd to fly but you just have to adapt in how you use it and it could destroy anything easily

Powerful like a pistol? Once I tried to kill a static truck and the cannon did not seem to do anything. Maybe I was just flying it wrongCareBear wrote:why are people saying the wasp cannons are weak?! there were bloody powerful! and yes it was very odd to fly but you just have to adapt in how you use it and it could destroy anything easily
