Disagree. PR already has all the scenarios it has, as factions are fighting against each other. Adding some backround info would only make it feel less unrealistic, and above all, more satisfying. I, for one, don't care about fighting over random trees. Value of timber is not that much.

And they are already restricting the map locations and factions, I understand they have turned down ideas about insurgency in Chicago and Quebec. But if they were ever to include more exotic scenarios, a backround information would be vital. Thus, mapbriefings would logically widen the scope of the battlefield.
