Pure fighter aircraft?
Or are the Mavericks the same color as the fuselage and I can't see them?

You mean the F-16? Currently the Pr F-18 is non-existant, unless you are talking about CA's F-18. If it were equipped like that it would be kick @$$

ATTN: real world military news update.
this does not effect the delivery or sustainability of the RAAF rhino program, which is intended to continue well into 2020.
.courtesy of defence alert news serviceThe Australian government has approved $3.2 billion for the purchase of 14 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters ( JSF ). Included in this is a test aircraft that will be delivered in the U.S. in 2014 to take part in test and training activities.

I think theres a map called Iron Eagle, 4x4, Jets and Attack Heli's against MEC.rampo93(FIN) wrote:Nice work, would like to see a map where your'e planning to use it
Appearently the RAAF is to adopt 24 F/A-18F 2 Seat Super Hornets. Seems like a wonderful ground attack aircraft for the Aussies. That of which is to replace the F-111's which served the RAAF in the Recon and bomber role. Hopefully we'll see some Super Hornets in PR.

we had some on the ground at amberly recentlly, others are in the states for training, there will be 20 f (rhino) varients and 4 growler varients, as far as i know.
the RAAF super hornets are beeing modified to carry the F-111 5000lb JDAM and its other munitions these where developed for the RAAF by boeing and are currentlly used exclusivly by the ADF.

Not to be a killjoy or anything, but i think you've mixed up 3SQN and 77SQN in that latest release.
The emblem on the ridge behind the cockpit looked to be that of 3SQN but it was combined with the tail art of 77SQN. Also the emblem in that area on the real thing is the image in the middle, and does not include the entire emblem
3SQN
77SQN
75SQN
So for example if you were to do that based on 75SQN, you would only have the Magpie, nothing else on the ridge. Also the arrow is different for each squadron
77SQN
75SQN
3SQN
Not the greatest images i could find, but i think they show my point rather clearly
edit: If i have necessarily dragged up this thread for nothing, i apologise in advance, and if this has already been brought up, again i'm sorry, i couldn't see any evidence in the thread, so i decided to help you out a bit.

Thats what i understand to be the commonwealth insignia. Then again thats second hand knowledge from when i was modding for YSFlight. However i do know that its not on every aircraft, some have a low vis out Aussie flag, some nothing at all besides their aircraft number.mikethebear wrote:just wondering, what are those colours on the tail? looks like a mini french flag

Heh, i'm always careful when posting on a new forum. Just cover the bases just in caseanglomanii wrote:not likely mate, you gave good accurate information that adds to the knowledge base of the comfac, that kind of information and any more like it is always appreciated, thank you.
In answer to your question, and this point in time the F/A-18 is the only fighter in our inventory, we did operate the F-111C and G as our main bomber until sometime last year when it was retired, which coincided with the acquisition of 24 F/A-18F Super Hornets. All this is in preparation for the acquisition of 120+ F-35A Lightning II fighters.'[uBp wrote:Irish;666297']does the ADF us any other time of aircraft? or are they like the canadians that use the F-18 as Air Superiority/CAS?
If you want my personal opinion, this is absolute BS, because not only is the F-35 an absolute dog of a plane, but the F/A-18's it will be replacing are largely superior. The F-35's so called "stealth" is complete PR BS since it will show up on Russian made radars, but not American or European (something to do withe wavelengths of Russian vs Allied made tech) . Its fat, its slow, it only has one engine, it is a terrible air frame.
And now with India in the process of acquiring T-50's, we will be underarmed in comparison, since the T-50, unlike the F-35, is not slow, is not overweight, has stealth that works and has twin engines for increased survivability.
Now since Congress has killed off any chances of producing more F-22's, our best choices would lie in Eurofighter Typhoons, more Super Hornets (do NOT underestimate this bird) or something Russian, Su-30MKI, Su-35 or even T-50's.
edit: Also where can i find modding tools for this, i might see if i can give this baby a crack and fix it up if it isn't too complicated to do skins.

On a side note, our first Super Hornet was delivered to Amberly a few days ago.

Win indeed......a pity we will be only getitng 24. We should replace our entire AF/A-18A outfit with supers, and forget about the F-35's altogether.......or think of Typhoons.....Truism wrote:On a side note, our first Super Hornet was delivered to Amberly a few days ago.

But yes, RAAF F/A-18F's = win.
And i see i have to modify my YSFlight models a little bit....

plus half of the rhino's are growler upgradeable, so far only four are, but the option is there.
as to the f-35 being a dog, i think we should rely on the facts for now, and get a better idea of it's capability before we dismiss it whole sale. after all the F18 was initially brushed off as a failure.
