PR Singleplayer?

Post by MattMan569 »

I ihave several questions about PR singleplayer. Before I do I only play singleplayer because punkbuster kicks me out of all servers, that is why good answers are important to me.

Q#1: Does the newest version fully support singleplayer (able to use all features)
Q#2:What size are singleplayer maps?
Q#3: Does PR support dedicated servers, so I can play with more than 16 bots?
Q#4:Is singleplayer just as good as multiplayer?

Thank you for your time. :-D

P.S. These answers will determin whether or not I download the mod, if so, become a supporting member.

1) Yes
2) Varies and not all maps are included.
3) Yes
4) No. With that said, SP/COOP can still be a good time.

How do you know Punkbuster will kick you if you haven't downloaded PR yet?

Because punkbuster will do it with or without the mod. Some servers do not have punkbuster but none of them are ranked so I cannot earn new weapons. Also, because I have the complete collection there are even fewer servers.

Actualy, I havn't played the game yet. Reason is because of problems I had to download one as a torrent and one from AN. Turns out it didn't work (obvious) bbut I am redownloading it now. But PB does not allow Vista on. It used to, but when I updated my game I couldn't get on. Are there PR servers w/o PB?

i believe PB (or some other anti cheat software) is required for holding a server license.

try downloading the PB updater from their site and manually updating punkbuster.

Internet speed? I have .5mb/s upload and I don't have any stuttering.

Update PB.

Make sure its the right one for your system, either 32 or 64bit. One doesn't work with the other.

You can only play online if you have the full version of this game. I mean purchased legally and have a valid CD key. I don't know of any mods that you can play without the full version..

Also, lol, make sure you have all the proper patches for BF2 and the newest version of PR.

On Vista, you have to run Pr as administrator

Guess I'll have to check the mod out again when I get back from vacation...

Earlier, I downloaded the mod, and was only able to play a co-op game (well, I could also play purely online, but I'm strictly an SP player.) Lest the game think there were slots open for other people to join, I slid the bot meter all the way to the right (I am ignorant about such things) and wound up with all the bots on the enemy team. So, I decided, "Well, I guess this mod's not for me" and uninstalled the thing (in hindsight, a bad idea). So, when I can, I think I'll download 0.91 again.

Looking at some other comments, I have concluded that Co-op is the only mode in which Project Reality can be played single-player. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) So I have to ask:
  • Why did you get rid of "Single Player" mode a la vanilla BF2?
  • How can a SP player's "Co-op" game isn't, well, co-opted by some rogue online player (taking up a slot in the game the original player intended to be SP)?
  • Do you need to download the "sever" software to play a strictly SP game (if it can be done), or can it just be done with the "client" package?
  • Can you play the "Skirmish" mode of maps in SP? I'd like to get right into the action instead of having to go on a long ride before I encounter the enemy.

Don't be confused by the COOP option.

Coop = SP

If you playing 'locally' by yourself, then your playing SP.

No need to be worried about others joining your game.

The combination of SP and COOP into 'one' was to give SP players more local 'server side' options I believe.

Got it.

However, is there any way to play the "smaller" versions of the maps on SP/Co-Op? (for example: I'd rather play the "Infantry" configuration of, say, Operation Barracuda - where the US and Chinese sides are both on land and ready to fight each other, rather than the larger "normal" configuration, where the US must reach the mainland by flying/sailing there from the Essex; similarly, Silent Eagle's suburb slugfest in "Skirmish" seems much more appealing than the larger bases-and-airfields map of the other game modes.)

There are a few maps in coop with stranded and infantry layout. To be exact the maps al barash, ramiel, muttura city and operation archer.Maps that only have infantry in coop only are laskar valley ashd khal, kozelk and a super-mini verson of battle for quinling which is only the village area. Those are the only ones i can remember right now. But a skirmish size version of op barracuda does not exist in coop and a coop version silent eagle hasn't has not been finished yet.

(I now i spelled most of the names of the maps wrong)
