The SPG9-Technical "Guide"

The SPG-Technical

This technical has the same basis as the .50 cal techy, but this one is armed with an "SPGg-Recoilless rifle". One of the big disadvantages of this gun, is that it is not easy to shoot with when driving around. So this techy is more suitable for a defensive role. Otherwise use it to ambush vehicles from a solid position, behind cover. It takes skill to use this vehicle properly, so practice before using it and plan you attacks well.
So let?s talk about the specifications, it almost the same as the .50 Cal Techy.
  • Weaponry: SPG-9 Recoilless Rifle , RPK
  • Capable of transporting 3 more extra guys
  • (+) High Top-Speed
  • (+)Great Manoeuvrability
  • (+) 2 Types of ammunition, for Infantry (Frag) and vehicles (HEAT), Frag is also effective against light-vehicles
  • (+) Suited against almost all vehicles, when attacking them in the right way, not effective against tanks
  • (-) Only 6 Rockets, 3 For HEAT and Frag, ammo-count is NOT linked together
  • (-) Not Easy to shoot with when driving
  • (-) Complicated sights
  • (-) Lack of armour
  • (-) Flipped easily, drifting too
  • (-) Not Suited against Tanks nor Aircaft
Tactics: Positioning
So where do you take position, well, behind cover , out of sights, in a position where you have the upper hand when engaging the enemy. Make sure you aim at the side or back of armoured vehicles otherwise you are a dead man. Make sure they don't see you with their 1337 Th3rm4lzZ. Let your driver or any other guy spot targets for you so you have enough time to prepare the SPG

Tactics: Against Armored Vehicles/Light Vehicles
First of all, make sure that you got a good position, second one is to switch to your HEAT (When these are empty, you can still kill light vehicles with Frag rounds) rounds. When you've done all this you will only have to wait and do the last one, which is shooting at the right moment and aim for the right spot. Aim for the Tracks/Turret or back, do never, never shoot at the front since their Armour is the thickest over there. When you've taken out this vehicle, try to relocate. You can stay in the same area to kill them again if they want to get their revenge.

Tactics: Against Infantry
Well, just make sure you got Frag rounds, when these are empty, you could use HEAT rounds instead. Just make sure you can get away quickly and your RPK is used.

Tip: Aiming (Thanks to our Forum-mods)

For people who don't know it's the things that say 2,7 and 1,7 on the left and right respectively.
One shows how big a 2.7m tall thing is (about tank size) at 600, 800, 1000 and 1200 m. The other is the same except for a 1.7m tall thing (about standing person size). When you want to zoom out press "C" (Default) when zoomed in. This will help your situation awareness.

Most people will find this vehicle useless, but in the right hands it is an APC Killer. Just wait, have patience and kill! Join me next time when we are covering "the standard" insurgent vehicle, the Civilian car, see you then! B.Pronk(NL)

What do you mean?

HEAT is Anti Tank (High Explosive Anti Tank)

and Frag is for infantry and light vehicles when needed ....is that what you wanted to know?

Well in the first quote you say FRAG and HEAT ammo are linked. Which would mean a total of 3 shots before having to reload.
In the second quote it says you can switch to FRAG after using up the HEAT rounds. Does not compute if they are linked.

The sights are dead on accurate. I remember once Hieta killed a whole infantry squad by shooting their SL in the head with a frag round. :D
