Game automatically closes when I start it

Hi,

I have just installed BF2 patches 1.41 & 1.50, afterwards I installed PR_0973 parts 1 - 3, then I installed PR_0973_Mappack_Final and then I installed PR_0973 Vietnam Beta. After I installed it I ran the updater which updated it completely.

However, when I start the game, my screen flickers 2 times, I see the loading screen for 0,5seconds and then it crashed back to the desktop. I have tried running the game in windowed mode, as an Administrator and as Windows XPSP3, yet non of it helped. Anyone have an idea of whats going on and how to fix it? Thanks in advance

You must run vanilla BF2 once and log in and join an online server to write the BF2 profile entry to registry.
When someone forgets to do this , the outcome is usually the insta-crash on load situation you are experiencing.

It is also a good idea to adjust your video resolution and settings in the vanilla bf2 at that point.

However I'm not sure if the joining an online server is needed. I think launching bf2 and creating a profile is enough.

First of all start BF2 and create an account, after this you can start PR.
