Post by Kovanaama »

Hello! o/

Ive been making this model whole summer and now its time to reveal it to you guys! :)

The model is now 13 349 tris and it contains 1p and 3p together but its still heavy for a jeep.
Im not pro, hell i dont even consider myself as a beginner so feedback is very welcome. :D

Sure, but the model got kinda messed up after exporting from .max to .obj for p3d. For example there are no smoothing groups at all:

Could you upload your refs please?

The tris count should get reasonable once you separate your geom0 (1p) and geom1 (3p) meshes. There are a few things that should be fixed, but Ill go into those next time when I have time. Right now my biggest worry is that the model doesnt have quite the right proportions, jusdging from a quick google for refs..

It does actually look pretty good as far as I can say :)

Looks good, but something is catching my eye and I don't know what it is.

The front of the vehicle is slightly wrong.

Landrovers have a very short front end around the headlights/front of the wings. The model is too stretched:

As you can see the front around the headlights is more square than has been modelled.

The black plate around headlights will be textured. Its difficult to see the final result yet. Lets try something funny. :P

Mad paint skillz! As we can see model is right size but we must texture the plate exactly as in picture (not the paint picture ;) ). Those bars at front of the lights must be shorted though.

I don't want to say it but is there a need for it? The game already has three land rover variants, one of which can carry 8 people and i was under the impression that land rovers were being extensively replaced in the British army by vehicles that didn't get turned into metal coffins when hit by an ied, such as the mastiff and husky.

The defender body has never really changed as its cheaper to produce them that way. The plastic plate around the headlight is almost square however on your model it is more rectangular. This is due to the fact that the front of the wing on your model runs in-line with the rest of the vehicle body however in reality it sits slightly higher and this is making the front of the vehicle look too stretched.

How your model looks:

How a Defender looks:

Antol.PL's picture is a very good reference as also the rear of the Defender body slopes towards the rear lights.

These might help you abit more kovanaama.

Strima is right you do need to work on the front end it is shorter than your model shows. The particular land rover your doing is the older TD5, like this one below.

Image

The only diffrence being the puma bonnet on the later 2006 models (the first picture) :p
