R9 380 on PR

Post by Copenhagen »

i just got my R9 380 4gb Nitro OC GDDR5 it's 1010/1450
already do some benchmark,i got Decent scores and the GPU is fine
can get stable 60fps on BF4 ultra no AA and low shadows on 13xx x 7xx resolution
Other games are fine too running GPU usage at 100% and using it's full capability

yet still im having problem with BF2 PR to get 60fps im even with this settings
Terrain=high
Effect=high
Geometry=low
Texture=high
Lights=Low
Shadow=off
Dyn Lghts=Off
Texture Filterin=med
i should be getting 60fps for this settings i really should,i know PR is kinda old mod and it's not that optimized but isn't it weird,how can other player max their PR then,do i need more Powerful GPU?
plus i notice that when playing PR my GPU is staying at 300mhz-400mhz it should stay at 900-1000 atleast,is there really something wrong with PR?cuz im sure it's not my GPU's fault maybe the PR's settings?

here's my main Spec
Fx-6300 6 cores Black Edition 4.0ghz clocked
HyperX Fury 16gb RAM
Windows 10

PR is more CPU than GPU when you are at the edge of the map looking toward the centre the CPU is drawing everything in your line of sight. PR has far larger maps with far more statics placed then intended by Dice. Does it change much going all high? You can post settings from the support tab on the launcher.

I have an Intel 2500k @ 4.3 and a GTX970 and I certainly don't get 100 everywhere - over the sea, looking up or looking outside the edge of the map yes but certainly not whilst looking at a city. You give me a screenshot and map and I can compare if you want? I don't go looking at my fps I only really care if it's playable so I don't know what I get in most places.

God knows I know on modern games I hear the fans speeding up but not on PR! From my limited technical knowledge that the CPU is the one drawing everything in your line of sight, but the GPU is only drawing everything on your screen. I'm pretty sure that's correct maybe someone smarter than me could confirm this, the textures are old and will not tax a top level GPU like yours on a 10 year old game.

This YT guy looks the same BF4 FPS as you.

Make sure you're running everything on MAX, as it will tell the game to stop using your CPU for everything, offloading some work for the GPU. (I'm not 100% sure this is true, but from what I heard it is).

Some maps are notoriously bad for FPS, especially Fallujah and Korengal Valley. I dip down to 24fps at times on those, where larger forest maps I stay around 50.
