C13 #2 Prep Battle: Xiangshan

PRT Campaign 13
Prep Battle 2 - RPX Victory
The paddy fields and jungles of Xiangshan have now been confirmed as the latest hotbed of PMC activity. With the competition for Asian contracts rising, the Vanguard Operations Group decided to launch an attack against occupied Riamh Pax territory in an attempt to prove their supremacy to the global markets. Although they saw some initial success, VOG struggled to hold any ground they gained and after some hours decided to withdraw from the area, not without inflicting significant damage to RPX, who could only truly claim a Pyrrhic victory.

We also want to welcome [T-CON]Raidonrai to the PRT staff. He will be helping with announcements and public relations. Most of the work preparing this very announcement has actually been taken on by him already. In addition, Raidonrai will be helping out with some long-term tournament projects.

A blast of a start for sure this was. Almost a total loss of 100 tickets in the first 20 minutes. Under those circumstances, no wonder that tankers like VOG Shaydee ends up with 21 kills and only 3 deaths. Nice ratio.

Otherwise a close game, where both sides easily could have lost or won. The break-in battle is maybe not the most pretty sight out there. Probably a few things to work on still, in how to develop a break-in, into a break-through. But it still is intense and it made me think on Verdun. Just a clean slaughter over Forrest ground, not really necessary to push completely through.

But a great attempt it was. In terms of support fire, from start, also a skilled attempt. The VOG attack probably started to late though. The coordination between the tank and infantry element never really made it to the level where they could excel. The weight of the break-in should have been on the right flank, with the first part objective, to reach the VOG tank element. This in order to draw in RPX tanks while turning the RPX infantry, deployed in the Forrest too. The VOG harassing squad, should have been up there, south of the Forrest, just before the main infantry assault crossed the river. Here is a concept to further develop on for the otherwise assault hungry VOG team.

But a great attack still.

Good inspiration. Thank you!

However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

A short suggestion on the first phase in a more timed VOG assault, where all attaking units converge on a single focus only. This is basically how I would have done it. Its on purpose I have made no use of the helicopter. It would have been on stand by in the air, behind own lines, ready to move to a CAS call.

The eastern route consist of complex assault terrain. A Forrest is basically a type of terrain you do not want to assault through, unless you really have to.

When that is said, it is true that I do not know the intent of the VOG command, wanting to make the main push in that area. From a tactical point of view I don't understand it, due to the complexity it present to the units having to assault through it. From the operational point of view it seems very risky as well.

The only reason that makes perfect sense to me, is on the strategically level, where this intense Forrest fight, could play an important role, in an attempt to reduce the self confidence of the RPX command, while increasing it for both the VOG command and its team members.

Because on Dovre, the VOG team faced a huge defeat, in precisely that type of terrain.
