Re: PR:BF2 has closed, cleaning up resources...
If anybody is still having this problem, this was my situation and how I got it working, somehow...
PR would install without any issue, but would immediately crash to desktop with the "cleaning up resources" message. No error message of any kind.
It would boot from the launcher if I disabled full screen, though this was a partial solution and incurred other problems.
It would boot from the executable file (Project Reality/Project Reality BF2/PRBF2.exe, but an error message would display in the menu indicating the game must be launched from the launcher itself.
I installed DirectX9, NET Framework and Visual C++ as indicated in the installation guide. Still no success.
Last thing I tried that apparently did the thing, was disabling the Win7 compatibility mode that was enabled by default for the launcher. I did not touch the compatibility mode for the executable itself, but it I just checked and it's disabled as well.
Running the game on Win10
