Re: Ask the [DEV]s a (?) - Part 2
I think it would be mostly a 'what would we offer' sorta problem. To me patreon requires a bit of effort to make it worth it for those that subscribe. Problem is we don't have nearly the time to do the necessary promotion and other work required to make it even remotely interesting for them.LiamNL wrote:Wouldn't it be time to get PR a patreon page or something to get a more steady stream of dosh to keep the servers up and running? Or is there the risk that too many people give monthly that there is a huge bonus that just keeps building?
Or is it more with rights and EA possibly cracking down thinking the devs are taking money from their IP?
Well our tank export problems never went away And I doubt those models ever got further then just 3D. No UV's even. So nobody ever really picked those up. And now that we have the BG42 sherman we will likely work from that one if we make other variants.

Hm, Patreon doesn't really have to offer anything in exchange. I guess it'd just be a nice way for people that want to support the project every month ("subscription" style). But I think it'd make more sense to add a way to allow recurring Paypal donations/subscriptions for those.
If a reserve starts to build, that reserve is simply kept in store for more trying times. We'll obviously adjust the donation goal amount as required if we continuously gather more money than our expenses require.
The devs will never take a cent for the work on this project. That would open a huge new (legal and fiducial) can of worms that nobody is prepared for. Plus, and possibly even more important, it would change the development culture significantly (for the worse, IMO). The best way to support is to make sure that the devs don't have to plunder their own wallets to keep PR alive, in addition to already investing huge amounts of time, energy and skill to develop new stuff.

Yes, it was exported at some point. However, we ran into issues. One of them, I believe, had to do with the tracks which we weren't able to fix. I can't remember the details though..

Any update on the SAA being introduced? Remember them being mentioned in 2014, are they still in the works?

Are the SAA still in the works? Saw the new Kafr Halab map announcement but it says it only has MEC/Russia vs Rebels.

Keep it on-topic. Questions only, not drama or flame-baiting. Otherwise it'll be infractions only.
