Responsiblity of the SL / Players that make you scared to fight

Post by Hx.Clavdivs »

Anybody who is anybody in PR knows, there are plenty of great teamplayers. Still, there is only a few people that actually makes you go "****" when you tab and see who is on the opposite team.

We already have a thread that says PR Player Recomendation Thread. It's the one thing that makes PR the best community in the gaming world. No challenge there. So my question is, have you ever as an SL pressed "TAB" and seen just one player (or more) on the opposite team and make you go "oooh ****. Drop everything your doing - we have to do something completely else! Just now, right now! Don't question me! Just do it!"

My worst nightmare was when I was on a team that had to attack 5 exceptional SL's. I knew we had already lost, but still - you can never tell you men that. You still keep fighting.

So the main question - have you ever "tab'ed" and seen adverseries that made you feel very feeble and humble? In that case, who? Or, opposite. Have you seen the "best of the best" and not given up? I have some in this community that makes me extremely willing to risk 5 lives again and again just to bring one guy down a peg. I won't comment, cause the boys I've played with knows who they are, but

who really scares you?

Well #1 if I see spacecadett, mongol, or hx. bjoffe on 7 gates I know if im british im going to get mined at the southwest of the map :)

Of course im afraid of any teamplaying buddies I have on the other team, like strktm - because they defend and effectively flank and assault/spot...

When I used to play on TB more often, I was afraid of the LP/TB squads running amuck...

Viscera... hes a god in an attack littlebird

And those two TG guys who man the attack helos, that is suicide/death to be opfor in .6 at least

Sometimes a whole team of "unknown" people can really organize/dominate your team out of the blue thats befuddling...

I always check the other team's players and see a bunch of regular BF2 names, then they just own us and I go 'wtf, there's not a single vet on the team, that could lead them to something like this'

So yeah, pro's are predictable, it's the newbies that are dangerous.

I love that :D so true. Pros know tactics, to which counter tactics can be fought. however newbies (should be called guerillas now...) have a totally different run'n'gun style where their minds don't contemplate danger... and long spawn times, so theyll just shoot and scoot

^ coordination experiment directed by TopCat went slightly wrong.
5 or so squadleaders + random squadmembers in one TS-channel. Throw in some VOIP; information overload... ;-)
Tip of the day: Key-bindings (and a commander)

On topic;
I fear the STRKTM'ers for their versitality, meaning the group and not individually.
And if i in some theoretical sense were to command MBTs, i'd simply CTD if WAC entered the stage.
Other than that, i can't mention any SL over-humanly superior to the next almost-as-good one.

I just feel uneasy if i'm agianst a good SL (like Ante or Mongol) but still dosen't effect anything and i certainly don't go "Were all gona diee!!". I only say that when i see Rhino on Op Ghost Train.

The Person that really scares me is Tobak, not just when your under his command but when he's on the other team, its a little scary.

You got to adapt quickly while playing. The best SL's aren't the ones who have a big plan beforehand or try some fancy tactics, it is the one who improvises quickly and uses gorillas tactics if need be.

I go SL cause of the challenge, to lead "PR-recruits".

The main event that unsettles me is the MOMENTUM of OPFOR. That is, if experienced SL lead and use momentum in the battle, and PUSH on shifting the front fast (capping flags,AND defend them/other SL taking over).

Yes, I recognize the players and their tactics! As TS mentioned, PR community is one of the best communities in the FPS gaming world, and those players use:

Tactics
Teamwork

Those components lead to "victory". Add "combat momentum" to the soup then you have superiority.

Haha, nice thread :D . I do this every now and then, yeah. I especially remember some times when playing on Inishail Forest, back in 0.5. If a load of iGi's were on the other team, I radically changed tactics, because I knew how they would play :p . Usually I got overrun anyways, but at least me and my squad bought our team some more time to cap other flags ;) .

What worries me most about a great deal of players is that they can make very good SL's. What worries me even more is that some of them again make excellent SL's in certain situations.

Not all maps suits all leaders. Even though all of us have an aggressive streak, there are some who are extremely competent of pulling a rabbit out of that H-AT.

And now that 0.7 is out, it's quite exciting. If your SL doesn't have a plan of SOME sort - it will be a long way to Tipperary, a long way to go.

I'm personally scared of Squidy, he is a one man killing machine, and generally any squad comprised of 4 or more clan members of the big clans is a tough fight.

There is now a new movie out, with that chap Tom Hanks playing Charlie Wilson who says a very interesting quote that chess players usually say: You fucked up the end game.

Thats what I'm pointing out. We have all these hot heads that are aggressive, but when the "chips are down" as they say - the game is not lost. They can still "fuck up the end game". That's where the other team can win. If they are on their guard.

The very few folks that makes me extremely cautious at the end game would be those pesky spanish boys - hear my cry! You mongrels! And those darn SERBIA boys! They just never accept defeat and they never try to be "to" clever. They only try to play the game. Those ******** have my respect always when I'm on the hunt for the last flag. God I hate them. Absolute pleasure to play with, absolute dread to play against.

I love to play against STKTEAM. Those ********, you never really know if they are. Above, below, around or where the hell they are. I think alcohol is involved. :P

I will always have the extreme respect for alot of clans ... I'll give you a good account in a few days, I suspect, of their leading in the battle.

But I just HATE playing against the spanish boys and SERBIA in the darn end game!
