Orbital strikes

Post by Harrod200 »

Due to the weapon system, this works best on the Havoc, but can work with the Cobra too, albeit with more ammo needed.

Squad makeup;
1x Officer (SL)
2x Pilot (Pilot + gunner)

Very simple tactic, but devastating against infantry and with a very wide footprint.

The SL finds somewhere to hide with a good visual range while the chopper crew flies as high as possible, above visual range and preferably above AA range. It is not essential for the gunner to actually see the targets.

Once the chopper is in position, the SL uses attack markers to target groups of enemy infantry and light vehicles. Since attack orders are visible at any range, the gunner can simply target the marker and let loose a burst of cannon fire. The entire area around the marker is rapidly bombarded with HE until the SL gives the order of hold fire, very quickly annhialating everything in the area.

As long as the SL is alive and the chopper has ammo, any enemy movements can be rapidly and effectively supressed with little possible retaliation by the enemy. Should any enemy armour roll in, it's easy for the chopper to dive and hit the lasered target.

Sucks though. Doesnt seem very fair to me. I thought the tournament was the best of reality?

Sounds like a useful tactic in real life to me.

Sucks why? In reality the helicopters lock on and take out tyargets way beyond their range. ;)

Best of reality is in the real army, PRT is about teamplay and best of PR.

Don't worry though, if there's something shooting at you in PRT there will be always someone to save you or someone to deal with that ;)
