[AAR] Near death experience

Post by RedSparrow »

Just a quickie.. I just wanted to let you know how scary it is to see a rocket go flying across your flightpath.

On the ABC server on Al Basrah, I had just dropped off the second full squad to the D6 area. Took off and turned to return to base and suddenly there's a rocket shooting across the windscreen. To me it looked like it had glanced off the glass, but I suppose it didn't. Whatever it did, it was incredibly close. (My life flashed before my eyes! ... Okay, it didn't. But I flinched in surprise in real life. This is when you know you're too into the game)

It evoked this face: o_o;

I didn't head back to that area for a while... Haha.

I guess something similar happened to those US Army guys in Korengal...
ONTOPIC. I've seen green/red tracers flying few cm from my face a lot of time. RPG's landing few cm away from me,but I somehow tend to survive.

I've had many experiences like this, most recent was yesterday. Charging a hill with my squad, I was pointman. As I'm making the charge up this hill with tracers flying down trying to take us all down, a grenade explodes RIGHT in front of me. Literally, 2 feet in front of me.

It was a saving private ryan moment right there. My kit had no field dressings, and I'm waiting to die any second as I lie prone in a small bit of ground cover. And I'm not even bleeding....my squad begins to pass me and my squad leader is yelling at me to keep pushing forward. And so I get up and do so, still shocked!

These kind of experiences are the beauty of this mod, u just dont get that immersion any where else because pr makes you value your life (ingame lives i spose) so much and you appreciate the lethality of the weapons in the mod

Best is when playing insurgency maps, get caught in an ambush with rpgs and ieds going off everywhere and just having to charge forward guns blazin to survive (whether on foot or in a vehicle) always very intense

Remember Jabal and the blackhawk?

You and carebear crewing miniguns as engineers. That was an epic round, never died thanks to you repairing the one time we were burning, wouldn't have made it back otherwise. :D

haha! that was fun times in the balckhawk!

any ways doing some scouting in the littlebird on kashan to look out for the Havocs

pop over the ridge and see both of them lookin at me.... o shit!

AA rocket flys right past me!
quickly turn around to fly away, whoosh..... BAM!

o shit we got hit!

but wait? im not dead? no alarms?! woot!

but not out of danger yet still got two havocs on my tail!
start flying towards some friendlys to get some help!

*BEEEEEEEE*

arr shit! whoosh another AA flys within inches of my cockpit...

whoooosh whooosh whooosh the hydras start flying past and 30mm chain starts hitting the ground around me.. i see some friendly vechiles and start heading towards them and they look up in shock, before they start shootin at the Havocs to make them run away!

finally! escaped! as the Havocs bugg off to go reload AA's etc.
then Apache finally arrives and we go to get the Havocs while there still reloading!

then this is the result!

apache gets one havoc, and i kill the other in the littebird
also i didnt get the demo so none of my flying away is in it :(

My best is on Ramiel, my squad is pinned on a building, killed like 5 insurgents, they keep coming, blast a technical, I pop up to let loose with my M4, and WHOOOOOOSH an RPG in front of my face. I duck down, pop up and nail the guy, but i jumped in my seat :D

my favorite one is when I was on muttrah in one of the little alleyways, my entire squad had been taken grenade just a couple feet in front of me, while i was reloading. i just start camping behind the supply crates waiting for my squad to regroup. then, i hear a shotgun go out and I'm thinking, "F***, we're not on insurgency, why's there a shotgun?" Then a blue next to me dies and I look up and see some MEC shooting buckshots at me. And then the oil tank across from me blows up and I run the hell away. THE END.

I don't know if you can call it a near death experience but ive been having premonitions lately of my death.

Im driving an apc in fallujah and as i come round a corner i get a mental flash of my mangled apc with insurgents walking nearby and sure enough 2 secs later we've been hit by an ied.

Another time im about to cross a street in muttrah and i get this mental image of my body in the middle of the same street and sure enough as i cross i get hit by a sniper. The funny thing is that i cant act on it, its like its preplanned already and i cant stop what i see

haha awesome storys right there! Its always a cool sight when an RPG fly's by you whizzing and shooshing!

Yesterday I had a moment with those tracers. I was hiding behind a crate on Karballa as a USMC soldier. When a humvee from my squad started opening up at a technical he nearly shot me. Saw lots of red tracers flying by me and hitting the crate right over my head!

Than as I decided I needed some different cover I saw 3 green tracers fly right in front of me! If I moved a bit earlier they would have gottn me :P

New near death experience- every time I get a "problem with your connection" while flying a loaded Little Bird, and having the freezeup stop before I crash. Attempting to pull out of power dives at 100ft always scares the living shit out of me.

Happened yesterday, threw in alot of rudder and slipped out of the dive with 10ft below me :P
