Pretty much yeah... :S atm atleast. Lots of talkin' but noone did anything so i thought i'd start working on some stuff and show it to the public later and get some more people to do something instead of just talking.

Just going to chip in my 2c. Dont bother with Kit Goes. You will have to sink a lot of time into them which could be better spend building the faction.

The best Idea to get this off the ground is to make the faction ingame, using placeholder assets from other factions. Try to find 1-2 mappers that are willing to make a map for your faction and go from there.

For example, having a quick look at your first post you could easily build a placeholder faction from files that are already ingame


Walther P226. - Already ingame
RK 95 TP. - Use AK74 as a placeholder
RK 62. -Use AK74 AS A placeholder
Sako TRG-22. - Any sniper as a placeholder (Sv-98 when its in)
NLAW. - Use AT4 as a placeholder
Remington M870. - Use the 'remington' (Norinco) as a placeholder
Hughes 500D/E. - Use LB as a placeholder
pasi.jpg Sisu Pasi XA-188. - Use BTR(?) as a placeholder
leopard2-10.jpg Leopard 2 A4 MBT. - Use Can/Ger Leopard - ingame.
cv9030.jpg CV9030 IFV. - Use warrior as a placeholder
bmp-2.jpg BMP-2 IFV. - Use BMP3 as a placeholder
kopteri2-nh90.jpg NH90. - Use Merlin as a placeholder


Thats just a basic list, but if you manage to clone say the Russian faction (one with closest faces/Kit Geos) and build a faction that is simply all placeholder it is a huge step. After that, the slow process of getting models exported and in is much easier as you can just replace what is already in place for it.

Edit: didt see you already made a plan for the kits.

You have to go out there and do it yourself before anyone ever helps you.

So basically modify the Russian faction to have the FDF name, create the faction flag for it and modify the faction assets and test them on some PRSP map or what? Sounds good.

So, how can i create a new faction to PR without overwriting on the Russians for example? I want to "clone" the Russians and name it FDF and create a new flag for the faction, but still have Russians in the game too, if you know what i mean? I just copy the factions_ru.zip to BF2 -> mods -> pr -> inits or what?

After I've got that new Russian clone faction ingame, ill make a test map for the faction, name the faction FDF, create a new flag, make the players speak english, re-texture the player model, create new kit geometries, modify the factions asset's so that it can use all the placeholder assets, and so on. I'm pretty optimistic i can do all this in a few weeks, I have nothing but time for 2 weeks now.

EDIT: Oh, and of course I'm going to need a permission to do all this from the people that made the Russian faction, the last thing i want is to get banned for not having a permission

So please, if you want the Finnish faction to fly, join a previous existing team and help them finish their faction.

I'll create some simple forum for the faction myself if i feel the need for it.

First I'd like to clone the Russians and mod that into something that resembles finns... Like i said in the earlier post Then, sure, i can take a look at them and see what i can do.

@ NautaFIN - Just out of interest, are you so very set against trying to make the Finns an OPFOR faction? I mean, I understand that OPFOR = 'the bad guys' in most peoples minds, but so what? Its a game Perhaps you might say it wouldn't be realistic for Finland to side with Russia et al, but well, if this was a truly 'realistic' WW3 we'd be playing Defcon, if you see what I'm saying?

Also, considering there is a serious lack of OPFOR factions, you could get a lot of support and resources thrown your way, potentially. Something to think about, no? And anyway, everyone knows the bad guys are way cooler
