Description :
This round truly showed everyone that mumble can be a fantastic tool to gain victory and have a great round of PR. Combine mumble with a team that works together like a well oiled machine and there's nothing that can stop that team from achieving victory.
Tiger Platoon took upon itself the task of FIRE SUPPORT. Having two jackal 2 jeeps each mounted with a .50 and a light machinegun infront, it must also be mentioned we had a sniper to our disposal together with kits that are issued in any infantry squad in todays armed forces.
South East of Al Basrah there is a half island, and on this half island there was a cache located roughly around KILO 12. Orders where to destroy it and deal with any civilians that were carrying arms.
A task force was setup which included two APC's, one helicopter on standby, a mortar team, logistics element our fire support element and the rest of the team being the assaulting element.
Tiger Platoon's fire support element went in position on the big bridge west of KILO 12 (This bridge soon proved to have been blown) and started providing massive suppression fire towards the city. Soon it was to be reinforced by one APC. While the firesupport was standing our logistics element dropped crates south of the highway so a FOB could be build for reinforcements.
FOB standing our logistics element build a Combat Service Support Bridge over the destroyed bridge west of KILO 12 so our heavy vehicles could pass. All the while a helicopter had dropped a squad near the cache at KILO 12 to setup a secure perimeter. This squad was not able to withstand the heavy resistance on the known cache location for long and we soon lost contact with this squad...
During this entire period the Fire Support was still standing and firing non stop. Three .50 machine guns, 2 light machine guns, 1 sniper and one APC.
By now our logistics element had build the CSSB bridge and our task force was now ready to bring in the cavalry. Our second APC loaded up with our assault element went across the bridge and setup a secure perimeter close to the known cache at KILO 12. The rest of the assault element soon followed on foot.
The second APC which was part of the fire support element and one jackal 2 with the .50 mounted on top went across the CSSB bridge aswell and setup on a small hill north east of the bridge providing fire support directly towards the known cache at KILO 12.
While the remaining part of the fire support remained on the west side of the bridge providing fire support towards the city itself and securing our FOB location so fresh reinforcements could arrive to the combat zone.
With this overwhelming firepower and fantastic teamwork by almost all the squads on the british side and the usage of mumble this cache location and all the other caches where destroyed.
This first cache location was however the first cache during this game where this amount of teamwork was used. I thought it was neccesary to write it up here in the Project Reality forum.
Some other players that were there and delivered a great amount of teamwork to this round were : DM batshitwicca, Flunder (APC crew) and others.
Simply reply to this thread if you were there gentlemen.
From the Platoon this was a fantastic game and for the first time showed us how usefull mumble can be. That being said it far from always is being used like this to it's full potential.
Yours respectfully,
SSG A. Andersson,
Commanding Officer Tiger Platoon.
