It has been 5 months since the release of Project Reality Arma 2 v0.1 BETA, and the team has been hard at work fixing bugs and introducing new gameplay elements. Our planned work now sits at 100% completion, and along side the numerous improvements BIS have made to their engine core and networking, we now feel confident that PR : Arma 2 offers the kind of PvP gameplay experience that you have all been waiting for.

We have been very quiet and quite closed mouthed over the last 5 months about what we have been doing, but this has been for a number of good reasons. Part of the process of fixing bugs is that often more bugs are introduced, and our great testing team have repeatedly found more just when we thought we were nearly done ! Even now we are not entirely sure what the behaviour of the mod will be like under a full server load, and to that end we have organized a pre release game testing event, details of which can be found here.

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA Release Information

A huge amount of work has been completed on identified bugs and plenty on unidentified ones as well, game modes have been revised, and new features have been introduced. We have new missions on Chernarus and the US Army faction has been included on Takistan. A complete change log of the 0.15 Beta release can be viewed here

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 beta requires:


Your game must be patched to 1.60. In addition we highly recommend using beta patch 89025 as there have been several important bug-fixes since patch 1.60. If you use a beta patch, ensure you add the switch '-beta' to your praa_betatg.exe shortcut.

Future Direction of PR : ARMA 2

Straight back to work after this release, the team hopes to have the 0.2 public release out soon after this. The 0.2 release will focus on assets and our upcoming new map, Afghan Village. And of course as a public release it will mean that you, the public, will be able to license and open servers.

This looks pretty good. I haven't had the chance to play 0.1B but hopefully I'll have a functioning gaming computer around April/May, so will be able to try it out and give my feedback.

Something to note though... is the music supposed to cut out @ 1:57-1:59 on the trailer?

Yes. It goes muffled, to highlight the fact you're in a camera shot. I like that actually.

Also, Us army using proper M4? or reusing vA2 m16 from usmc?

I love most of the changes.

Any changes on LAT missile drop / deviation? Or altering general weapons accuracy?

Sweet!

On the forums earlier the Dev team totally threw everyone off the development scent by alluding to the mod still being full of bugs with a release that wouldn't occur until March or April. Then a week later, we see this post! Clever.

Thanks, guys! It's shaping up great. I can't wait to play this.

as much as i really like the look of arma now my pc can run it so well, and having pr on arma2 is also awesome.

there is never any servers to play on... thes one that do show are always empty.

why make a game that no one plays? when i join TG all i get is baseraped and teamkilled and they severely lack teramwork.

Looks great but one thing I didn't quite understand.
What does "For a better experience, we highly recommend the British Armed Forces DLC too." really mean?
How does this affect players (like me) without BAF DLC?

The US Army will use the M4 (Not M4a1) so its semi and burst only.

Unfortunately there is no M4 ACOG in the arma 2 files (there is one with an acog and a grenade launcher, but we can't have every single rifleman running around with an UGL)
So for now an M16 w/ ACOG will be used as a placeholder until the UGL can be removed from the M4.


The Grenadier will get the M4 with an UGL and ACOG.
All the other kits will get to choose from an M4 with an aimpoint or ironsight or an M16 with an ACOG.

Some vehicles and weapons are from the BAF DLC, those who don't own it will see the "lite" version of said vehicles and weapons which have lower quality models and textures.

It won't have an affect on gameplay but if you'd like some extra eye candy then buying the BAF DLC is worth it.
