Install PR and patches on 2nd drive

Post by Cushing63 »

Guys,
I wanted the entire BF2, PR, Normandy, Vietnam (ALL BF2 mod/patch related files) to install on my 2nd drive (E :) . I thought of myself as being somewhat computer savy.

Problem: some of the mods/patches default install to C: drive with no way to change the destination drive. I end up with partial installation on E: and partial installation on C:.

I gave up and re-installed everything on my c: drive. I don't remember which patches/updates/mods though. I'm revisiting re-installing everything because....

============================================

I'm experiencing more and more PR game crashes of various types.

"memory error - you cannot go there"
"memory error"
"memory dump"
multiple Crash to desktop (CTD)
Key packet Punkbuster kicks
game minimizes for no reason
I had one PR crash whereby a small dialogue box appeared with extensive Chinese writing in the Title bar. Inside looked like dos command box

Easiest way is to custom install each mod,
use same directory structure, ie.
C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2
becomes
E:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2

At this moment in time, each mod SHOULD correctly find your vanilla BF2 installation directory.
After you install BF2 from disk, reboot.
install1.41 full patch. (If it doesn't automatically find your directory, let us know.
It's a simple registry key that names the directory location of your BF2 installation. You CAN manually enter it at this point.)
reboot.
install 1.5 patch. reboot.
install PR part 1, 2, and 3. reboot.
etc.

If you have problems, refer to this thread, https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... -97-a.html
Make sure you are 100% sure if you are running a 32 bit OR a 64 bit OS!
