Life in the community events team is good, but there have been quite a few changes that are keeping us on our toes...
We are trying to encourage people to play on community held matches as much as possible. There are a load of them available, you just have to know where to look at times. The community events news forum will now be kept up to date with news of games for you guys to play on, and also includes a calendar that you can check up on as it receives regular updates.
Check it out here
We are hoping to get a regular PR training group up and running to run some training sessions soon. A bit like Fuzzheads SL training, we are hoping to get you guys some sessions that will hopefully help the newer members of the community a chance to learn some of the more interesting tactics and skills that range from helicopters, to infantry.
One of the other changes we plan on making is altering the way we do community events. It has been stated before by members of the community that although some like the current set-up, others are not too keen.
We will therefore be trialling three different types of events.
1. Strategic events, where commanders work with their squad leaders and squad members to create detailed battle plans, and tactics.
2. Semi-organised fun, where commanders have a shorter time to organise their team, and have a limited idea of what will be happening, however there is some structure to what is happening. (Raid of Fallujah round 2 is an example of this)
3. Jump on and game events. No designated commanders, just jump onto the server and enjoy the maps we have created for you. (Retro map pack is an example of this idea).
The retro night is full steam ahead at the moment, with Mao Valley and Xianjiang Security Area both near completion.
I am however keen to hear requests of maps into the map pack for this event. We have space for around 3 more, with greasy mullet, CP Abadan, and inishali forest all being strong contenders.
Here is a bit of nostalgic teaser eye candy anyway.

Below is another idea we had, but somehow never came to light. Anyone who has read [R-Con]Reapermac sig, the idea was a freak tidal wave washed up a carrier onto Korengal valley, in which the US had to defend it from the unhappy local Taliban forces. unfortunatly, "Operation Noah's Ark" may sadly never appear.
Personally I don't see what's wrong with having an A10 on Korengal, it's totally realistic.

The funzor events are good, really they are. But imo Desert rats etc needs to be complemented with 'serious' matches as well.
Normal vehicle spawn times etc, with a pre-organised team etc. Like 'tourney-lite'
Also, the Com team would do PR a great service if they would release some of the maps they audit. PRs main weakness imo (apart from engine) is that there is a lack of maps. Why only have these maps for playing once every month or whatever, why not throw them in to teh mix?

Definitely need a carrier on Korengal. Not too sure about having community maps on mainstream PR though. The amount of assets and such needs to be heavily tweaked. But then we'd have our regular maps anyways...

not sure whether you ever read the David Gemmell novel Wolf In Shadow from The Sipstrassi Tales series.... but the main premise is that it's set way in the future after the earth has tumbled on it's axis and humans only have the technology from around the western era... anyhow the main charector stumbles across the titanic in which some 'elders' reside...... not really on topic but just your idea just triggered something in my brain so I'll just go back into my boxOutlawz;bt394 wrote:I think it would be more interesting if the carrier got washed up on a hilltop and was under an angle.
