[AAR] Everyone's a noob in .856...

Not blaming specific people, and maybe it's the night with the monster energy drinks everyone's hopped up on, but everyone seems like they've been playing PR for 2 months.

1:Lotsa rushing. The common scenario where one guy goes ahead of the others and tries to storm a .50. Squad leader did this too

2.Lack of leadership. The only orders being given are: Get in the truck! Shoot the tank! Attack this position! We're going to stay here and defend!

Compared to: I want you to be a medic, you to be a rifleman, etc. ; Split up into two teams. Team one will supress and team 2 will flank. ; Get back here! Stay with your squad! ; Optical sights in the back, irons in the front ; Specialist, get over here and blast this lock!

3.General stupidity: Squad leaders grabbing APC's and crewmans, the medic saying it's too much work reviveing people, a certain person blasting music into the microphone making it hard to hear squad lead's orders, choppers dropping people off in the wrong place, and lots of other bits of idiocy.

BTW, all this was from three rounds.

The good thing is: Great job devs! I want to personally thank the people responsible for the animation and HUD design. It seems a lot more open and natural now, like it's not a game. One qualm: If you don't want directional arrows on the infantry icons, at least give the player a facing arrow. I walked back to main thinking I was going to a control point.

new releases attracts new players, players without any experience, This is/was expected. Lets just hope that the experienced people step up and teach these new players how PR meant to be played.

Far to many times i've seen locked up squads, leaving many new bloods on the side. We're all newbies at one time, good squad leaders takes PR to a whole different level.

Cheers

No, I'm not saying there's a lot of new newbies. I'm saying there's a lot of old newbies. All the PR vets suddenly turned nOOb. Maybe it'll be better tommorow.

I kind of agree with you, but its probably everyone just trying out new stuff.

If you don't want to/can't cope with other players behavior you probably don't want to be in a sandbox game.

People aren't used to the changes yet. You don't just jump into a map with new game mechanics that you've never played before and suddenly have an expert plan for assaulting the enemy.

Every new release brings an influx of new players, or people who used to play but dropped out a while ago. It gets better over time ;)

Though, truth be told, the first round I played (Fallujah West), was one of my best in ages. When we had to cross a field, we split up so we could cover each other etc.

Well actually im also having really good rounds now, maybe even because everyone is a little bit less professional, so theres just a little more action than in normal PR

Normally when you go SL out of necessity, you get maybe 3 good teamplayers with experience, 1 noob, whos willing to learn and one sniper/jackass/noob. Now and for maybe a week you'll be getting 1 good teamplayer with experience, 1 vet that just wants to try out the new kits, 1 noob that is willing to learn and 2 snipers/jackass/noobs.
So ppl like me, that dont SL out of pure want, will just resignate.
...i think i'll try to make a "4 new players" sq next time, maybe thatll help. Or ill have 2 sniper kits on my hands.

Its a fact of life with new releases. I remember playing the first public released Alpha for Resistance and Liberation. Very small tight community there, very much a heavy realism oriented mod. For some reason this one kid had downloaded it and was team killing the teams in spawn on one map and would 'even things up' by switching which team he TKed every few minutes.

Its part of new releases. You should console yourself by playing with a friend. Friends help us tremendously through this difficult time. :D

Yeah not everyone in right now is a .8 veteran moving to .85. I still see a lot of 1 man tanking, people with no voip or clue how to play the game. Soon it will stop and people who don't like how this game will play will move to somewhere else and ones veterans or intrested in this sort of thing would stay.

I played 3 rounds last night and only 1 seemed really crappy. My first round was great, I was able to finally hit someone at range.

I can't make it to my usual favorite servers, cause they're all full. So, I did not experience that much teamwork lately.

Yesterday was good, before everyone and their dog downloaded .85. Even still, people are still getting used to a lot of things, and are trying out a lot of new weapons. Hell, even I was reluctant to go civvie (something I usually did in .8 out of necessity), because I wanted to try the new toys.

Oh, and on one server, there was so much SL shuffling that I became SL within under a second of joining a squad. I literally clicked "join," blinked, and saw that I was SL.

To quote the OP - Squad leaders getting crewman kits isn't a bad thing as long as your running a tank or apc-trasport/logisitcs squad :P

Now if you had an infantry squad... and then he *was leading* then switched yeah I could see the problem there lol

For the most part be ready to explain basic things to people who haven't read the manual ( big mistake! ) or just don't plain know how mechanics work in the game ( I.E. How do I get a kit, how do I use this vehicle, whats the collborator phone for :P )

Maybe you should calm down and be patient and maybe help the newbies.

Without these "noobs" PR wouldn't have had any community at all. You were a noob once too.
