PRTA: Operation Marlin 1km^2 Playtest

Image

The PRTA team is excited to present a playtest of the French Forces map Operation Marlin for Friday 25th. The final version of the map will feature the French Forces Vs IDF, but for the purposes of the playtest it will be British Vs IDF.

After a suitable period of seeding the server will be restarted with a password at around 19:00 PRT/GMT. The password will be given out over mumble, and all players are expected to be in the appropriate mumble channels. Although we welcome PR players of all nationalities we ask you to remember we are an English speaking server. Our server rules can be found here.

We hope to offer you an evening of intense infantry action on a new and interesting map, and look forward to a night of good teamwork and fierce firefights.

If you wish to participate you will need to download the following file:

here

And place it in your pr/levels folder.

We ask you remember that this is a playtest of a WIP map, and that some problems are to be expected. You can help out by reporting any issues you may find in the Operation Marlin thread (with screens and specs where applicable) :)

A big shout out to the French Forces guys and to [R-CON]billoute for giving us the opportunity to run this event. :D

sounds like a plan ill try to be there im just a bit confused why the French would be fighting IDF . . . :l oh well if anything i would think for the test it should be german Vs French but i think its more of a Middle eastern map so i guess IDF would work :)

Having a quick run through the map, and right off the bat I can say the city is absolutely spectacular work. I've always found PR's mostly flat and arrow straight grid laid cities unbelievable for their settings, but this one has pretty much everything going for it from confined and snaky streets to significant elevation differences creating a very life-like setting.

Why the hell would we fight Germans? WWII is over... We're allied to Germany.
And for the IDF, they are supposed to invade Lebanon to fight Hezbollah, the French are under UN command in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to counter the IDF invasion, this is why you saw French Forces with blue helmets and white vehicles in the preview. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-p ... eview.html

For the purposes of the test we must use two factions that are actually in PR currently.

this is definately going to be one of the best well put together maps in PR gents, do not miss the chance to play it, at the same time helping the developers release a balanced and bug free map for the official release.

I suggest you set all the items in the video setting on medium and texture on high.
With this setting ,fps range from 100 to 50 with an average of 75 in downtown.

my pc : window vista 32 bits /ram 4 Go /cpu Intel E8400 3 Ghz / grafic card NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 500Mo /screen 1680x1050

Have fun for this test

map is great, really good job on variety of buildings, including bridge which looks awesome.

but, there arent enough statics such as bins, bags, rubble or something. streets are too clean. looks like no one has been living there.

also what about assets, isnt there going to be .50cal humvees or something?

WIP.

iirc think there's some trasnport humvees and logitrucks on both sides. have you tested the map on local? what you see there is the deal i believe.

There was a lot of those statics before but Billoute had to remove some due to the high number of statics in the city. He had to find a compromise between performance and realism. ;)

Sounds good :) I might go CO on this. You dont get to CO/SL on maps that you dont know nothing about very often. Makes for a different game. Actually have to look at the map and terrain to figure out where to attack or defend. That is cool :)
