[AAR] Frogfoot in the sky

Post by Killer2354 »

I was on TG last night on Kashan layer 64. I go ahead and make a CAS squad and lock it when 1 member joined. I made sure I was on SL channel and then took a logi truck to do some logistics (who wants to wait at main for 20 minutes?) and went over to SV. There, my sm and I started to build a FOB only to hear that there were 2 US tanks coming to SV :!: . I then rush over to the western part of SV and try to get a TOW set up while we already have a tank there. I spawn it, and run back to the crate for a shovel while my SM starts digging it.

It was too late.

A tank round impacted our tank and the TOW from both tanks. I got my SM away from there while our tank moved to flank the other tanks. I grabbed my officer's kit on the ground and marked their position on the map. Total in all- Our tank was killed and one of their tanks was also killed- the last tank RTB'd. We then take the logi truck back to main in preparation of the jets spawning.

Once they spawned, I went ahead and took the Frogfoot while my SM took the MIG. When I took off, I made a straight shot upwards to around 2500 feet as per our commander's orders to not fly low (derp). The moment I got a laser target, I turned to the area and made a dive bomb to the target, releasing my ordinance when locked. Pulling up, I release flares at 1-3 second intervals until I reached above the clouds, going straight up.

While the rest of the team were pushing to NV, I kept on going to any laser I was called on, from AA to tanks and infantry. At one point, I had a laser target inside NV, telling AA was marked. Straight above, I made my dive from 2500 feet, releasing flares in intervals starting at 1000 feet with LG missiles armed. Once I see the laser, I rip open my gun, releasing 2 missiles. As I'm pulling up, I see my teammates saying that I took out AA and a TOW. I was :D .

The next time I get called over there was for a tank laser. I dived as per my thing, and released a bomb. As I started to level out, I got a lock tone. I immediately bank, shooting enough flares to get rid of any missile/ lock while also pulling up. When the lock broke, I released flares in 1-2 second intervals, going straight up. I then reported to my team that there was AA in NV. While they didn't see any at first in NV, they did see one past the northern bridge. They lased it, and I dove in for the kill, releasing flares in intervals at 1000 feet. It becomes dead and my teammates are saying good kill. As I turn, I see what looks like an US APC. I report it as I pull up into the air.

Later on, they finally see the AA and put a lase on it in NV. You can guess what happened to that AA ;-) . I get to kill infantry over in NV before the unthinkable happened. The one thing NO pilot wants to see: There is a problem with your connection. My heart stopped. I was flying the frogfoot past 1500 feet; there's no way in hell it'll survive falling. Hoping I wouldn't get disconnected, I became sad when I did get disconnected. :-( Oh well. Shit happens, but usually not when I'm flying. All in all, I saw earlier on the scoreboard that I got 12 confirmed kills (not total anymore) and 0 deaths, other than being disconnected. There was only 1 time I got locked onto, and I avoided being damaged at all. I landed 3 times, all of them being successfully stopped on the runway. All in all, it was a good round raping the US from above.

My SM inside the MIG didn't do so bad either, though he barely got to see ****. He did shoot down a Kiowa and dropped a couple of bombs, though. Their jets were shot down by our AA sadly enough. Apparently, they were flying low.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Good story! Disconnecting sucks as a pilot, I've been disconnected in my huey with a full sqd inside flying top speed at street level in muttrah, people aren't usually happy when that happens..... :P

Nice detail on your diving tactics. Don't fly, but love spotting for CAS.

Thanks to both of you! I would have a BR to show, but sadly I didn't get one. If only someone could send me the file so I could see :)

Meters are standard in the rest of the world. Only the ex-british colonies use imperial system (feet, pounds).

You have a better clue as to the dimensions with metric, easier to convert.

1 yard = 3 feet
1 mile = 5280 feet - wtf how can you remember that? Try converting 3.54 miles into feet without using a calc.

I know what meters are. It's just that American aircraft use feet for height measurements- as I'm used to that, instead of using meters for height. Can't really say for the rest of the world's aircraft, though.
